I really want some coffee! - Page 2

So have some. We're pregnant, not sick. There's a lot of that "risky stuff" that's really not risky at all when you break it down (deli meat, soft cheese, sushi, amusement park rides, piercings, tattoos, AND YES EVEN OCCASIONAL ALCOHOL, etc). It's just more of that whole pregnancy hysteria.
The "risk" of miscarriage with coffee comes with 5+ servings of high caffeine a day. Energy drinks count for more than one, so be careful with those. Even then it's not sure science. I've always had some coffee during pregnancy, in fact it controls my migraines exceptionally well and my midwife recommended it for all women who get headaches, as it can really help.

What's the deal with amusment park rides anyway? Like, I am taking my little kids to Disney with my family in a month or so and I fully intend to take my kids on the kiddy type rides (think dumbo and peter pan) and I see my family making some comment about me being pregnant. Dumbo, really? I won't get those comments if I eat, say- a corn dog, which one could argue is also a fairly unhealthy thing to do...

(As I sit here drinking my decaf coffee....)

I think a good rule of thumb is that if it's no more active than a car ride, it really can't be that bad. I know that Disneyland has some rules in place for liability purposes, but if you're in early pregnancy and can ride the ride comfortably, I think you're fine.

I would probably avoid the tea cups if you're at all nauseous.

It's about liability. Same thing with body piercings and stuff. No "true" risk, just hypothetical. They believe that if you get excited, your adrenaline will abort the baby.

And seriously? If a little adrenaline and fun with abort the baby, you will not make it through a sexy dream, let alone an amusement park ride.

I have a tattoo appointment on Friday that I've waited four years for, and to hell if I'm missing it!!

When my sis and I were googling the "risks" all we found is, "You could get AIDS" and "you could get excited and cause a miscarriage". We were killing ourselves laughing.
For realz: if you're getting AIDS from your tattoo artist, there is something really wrong with your tattoo artist!

I did not have much coffee the 1st tri because I was woozy.. But I sure do love my cup o joe in the morning now with organic creamer and a bit of local honey. No guilt here.
Mammas got to be awake and baby seems to take it just fine. I also drink Ice tea during the day. Midwife never said not to and sometimes water gets boring. Organic Jasmine Green tea is yummy cold too. :P) I do not drink coffee after 10 am ever even when it sounds so good.
good luck.
