Ovulation question...

I'm wondering. Has anyone ever used the online ovulation calculators?

I punched in my info on the one at WebMD and Baby Center. It gives me my fertile week...great right? Well the thing is my OPK's are giving me my LH surge the day after the week the OV online calculator gives me my fertile week.

So what do you think? Last month I O on CD 16, which was on Mon the 23rd and online it said my fertile week was the 16th-20th.

Which one should I believe? Should I just go with the OPK. I'm using the CBE digital and no I'm not charting or temping yet, just using the OPK's.

I would go with the OPKs. Those calendars only give you an estimate based on average cycles, and every person is different. I'd be willing to bet the online calculator is basing ovulation on a 28 day cycle with ovulation occuring at 14 days. Very rarely do the calculators match up with the day I actually O.

I agree with OP. I'd go with the OPKs and not rely too heavily on the online ovulation calculators/calendars. There are some where you can change the cycle length as well as LP but I still use my OPKs and temp to verify the accuracy of the fertile window calculated.

Even though my cycle was 28 days last month. I'm just afraid I'm missing my window.

In a 28 day cycle is day 17 too late to O?

I would definitely go with the OPK. As the other posters said, most of the online calculators don't take into account O-ing on days other than the average 14 or LP's that are shorter or longer than normal. Temping is a great way to verify O, which will give you a better idea of your fertile period.

If your cycles are regular, you may O on a similar day every cycle. For me, I've ovulated everywhere from cd14 to cd40. So those online calculators would never work for me! Definitely rely on your opks.

Nope, that's the day I think I O'd for two cycles and I'm preggers now!

Nope, I have a 27 day cycle and I usually O around day 19-20. If you O later it just means you have a shorter luteal phase (which may or may not be a problem...)

that online calender knows nothing about you or what your body is doing. definitely go with the OPK, CM and temperature shift.

Thanks Ladies! My cycle is usually 28-30 days so I was starting to worry that maybe I was missing my day or my LP was too short.
