femara days 5-9

Sooo...I forgot to pick up my prescription for femara this weekend (it's my 12th cycle of IUI, i'm doing it cause I've got a sperm sample in the freezer at the doctor's office; really I'm just biding my time until my appointment at the IVF clinic).

I see on the internet that some doctors prescribe it for days 5-9 instead of days 3-7. Anyone familiar with this? Any thoughts?

Today is my cd 5, so either I take it days 5-9 or not at all.

thanks!

I've been on Clomid a total of 4 times and each time the dr said CD 5-9. I think it might just depend on the dr's office and what they normally go by. Sorry that is all I can tell you!! Good luck!!!!

I took Femara days 5-9. I have long cycles though and taking it CD3-7 didn't work. So...give it a go. You don't really have anything to lose, right?

As far as I know, the difference is that taking femara or clomid on days 5-9 tends to be better at causing a single follicle to develop really well and taking meds on days 3-7 tends to be more likely to produce multiple follicles that may not mature as well.

Sorry that is so badly phrased, I am way too sleepy.

Thanks so much. I have started taking it days 5-9. Maybe a change will make a change...

Were you ovulating (as confirmed by temp shift, cervical mucus, and positive OPK) taking it CD3-7?

Jenne-
I ovulate on my own without meds. On femara days 3-7 I was ovulating with 1 or two big follicles on day 12/13. All confirmed by ultrasound. I Ovulate fine, I just don't get pregnant
