If you have a short LP

Do you find that your temps stay high during AF?

Today is CD7, and my temps have finally dropped below the coverline from my previous cycle. Today would also be 15DPO, or CD1 if I had a regular, 14 day LP. But AF has already come and gone, as I have been having an 8 day LP.

I am hoping this is a positive sign, that I only need to keep those temps up just a wee bit more to keep AF at bay. I am loading myself up on all kinds of supplements this cycle (maca, vitex, B6, zinc) in hopes of forcing a longer LP.

So does anyone else have this same pattern with temps? My chart is here, btw.

Yes I have that too. My temps usually don't drop below the coverline until the heaviest day of my period, which is normally CD4.

Here's my chart.

I am also loading up on B6... I may add more supplements in future cycles if the B6 doesn't help.... I tried Vitex a while back but that didn't do much.

I don't know if the high temps are a good or bad sign... I hope for both our sakes that it is a good sign and it means we just need a little boost to get our 12-14 day LP's!

My temps drop during the heavy part of AF which usually is around 12-14 dpo, but I always have spotting and light days 9-12 dpo and my temps drop slightly, but not the major drop that seems to indicate a new cycle until heavy AF. So, if you only count when the heavy day starts, I don't have that short of a LP, but when you count the spotting, my LP is only 9-10 days. You're supposed to count the spotting and light days, right?

that's not unusual at all, for anyone! temps during af dont have any bearing on your cycle at all. they can be, and usually are, all over the place. many of us dont temp that week- if you feel like you need to do it to stay in the habit, that's cool, but otherwise, give yourself a break and take that week off! but skyler, you are right- the day af starts counts as cd1, not 9 or 12 or 14 dpo- we wouldnt call it that, that will just confuse you more! i know you know this, right, but it's not a temp drop that indicates a new cycle, it's bleeding. once your bleeding starts, you are onto a new cycle. spotting counts on the lp, bleeding on the new cycle.

just_lily- it's not the temps that keep af at bay! it's progesterone, which might be reflected in temps, but temps are just a sign, ykwim. and it's not a perfect sign at all. there are a lot of variables.

now, the definition of spotting is a tad vague, but generally, we say if you dont need a panty liner- like it's only when you wipe or you see a spot on your undies but by the time you see it, you arent bleeding anymore, that's spotting. if you need a panty liner, that's light. if you need a pad or a tampon or a cup, that's medium. if you need a pad, a tampon, AND a cup, that's heavy, haha, well that's extra heavy, but you get the idea.

and actually, your coverline doesnt really mean much either. it's just a visual aid to help you see the biphasic trend. if you use a program like fertilityfriend.com, which i highly recommend, they have a few different software programs for placing coverlines, and they do in reality make a little bit of a difference when it comes to helping pinpoint o day, but they all tend to be pretty close, usually not more than a day's difference. but the coverline doesnt actually "mean" anything.

I came here to see what people think about clomed (sp?) and saw this post. I had a short LP and my midwife recommended a progesterone cream. I fixed me right up. I have normal LP. She also said the cream can help prevent a miscarriage if it is due to low progesterone so it's a two in one benefit.
Maybe you've done your research and don't feel it's a good idea to use it. I just thought I'd throw it out there just in case you hadn't heard of it.
