Possible to wean to get pg and then start up again?

I hate that I even have to post this, and I was really undecided if this belonged in bfing or fertility so I'm sorry if I have this in the wrong place.

Dh and I have been trying to get pregnant for 10 months, unsuccessfully because I am not ovulating due to nursing. Dd is 22 months old and is night weaned but still nurses during the day 5? times, sometimes more.

Is it possible to wean her for long enough that I start ovulating and am able to get pregnant and then start nursing her again? I have always pictured myself tandem nursing and doing clw so trust me this is not a decision that I am taking lightly, and something that I intend to think much more about before I decide what to do. I was just wondering if it is possible.

Thanks!

Rather than weaning, have you tried limiting nursing sessions/times? Sometimes cutting back just a little more is all you need.

However, if your body refuses to ovulate while breastfeeding, it is probably in your best interest to listen to your body. Often a woman's body which cannot handle nursing during pregnancy will let itself know that by not ovulating. It really is an efficient system.

Good luck with your decision.
