Talk to me about your 2nd Tri after Awful MS

I had some nausea with DS, but nothing too bad. I'm 14W now with baby #2 & have felt absolutely horrible. Incapacitated. To the point where I felt my identity was gone. After weeks of being unable to live my life, I couldn't imagine going back to the busy, energetic person I used to be. A most horrifying & depressing thought.

Friend of mine told me a friend of hers was even worse than me (crawling to the bathroom was the most she accomplished on a good day. At least I could still force myself to shower, drive to work, & sit in front of the computer - although that's about it.) BUT - this same friend felt AWESOME in her 2nd & 3rd tri. Like, the best, most energetic & healthiest she EVER felt.

I'm starting to feel a bit better, but just a bit. (Instead of "awful" I merely feel "bad.") I'd love to hear more positive, encouraging stories that the Meg I've been my whole life might be BACK - 100% BACK - within a matter of weeks. (Ha, I guess that means I DON'T want to hear stories of people feeling awful the whole darn time. I admit it, I'm looking for encouragement right now.)

TIA!

Hiya! With #2 for me, my nausea was the WORST! I threw up 2 times a day and wanted to live in the bathroom just in case - not to mention I had to take care of #1! (At the time I swore off any more pregnancies!) Anyway, around 20 weeks I realized I didn't feel "that bad", and soon after was back to normal. Went on to have a pleasant enough pregnancy that we decided not to use an b/c after she was born!

First pregnancy I had bad vomiting, went on zofran and felt better after 26 weeks

With #2, I was really really bad, not just vomiting, but stomach pain where I couldn't eat at all, lost a lot of weight. I showered, but that was about it, I felt 3 times as bad with #2 BUT good news, I felt better by 18 weeks and was off medication by 20 weeks

Weird how it works out, but yes much sicker with #2, but didn't last as long at all.

Now sometimes I don't even feel pregnant, except for my belly getting in the way.

I felt awful during my 1st Tri of last pregnancy, then felt great after about 12 weeks. I felt even worse this time, in bed many many days, and at 13 weeks I am almost 100%, just a slight pang of nausea every once and a while. I even spent the morning at a dairy farm today!

I had a horribly sick first trimester and to be honest it hasn't been much better in the second tri. I'm 19 weeks now and on the off days that i'm not throwing up, i'm having massive migraines instead

ooooops!! Just read the part about how you DON'T want to hear the negative stories...DON'T READ THIS POST LOL

My first pregnancy was the worst for morning sickness. I was really barely functional. It lasted well into the second trimester but I did start feeling better eventually. It was a gradual process. I will tell you that I never felt great and energetic like pre-pregnancy. My whole body and personality changes entirely while pregnant and I don't feel like myself again until the baby is OUT. And then, all is wonderful. BUT...I do become more functional as time goes on.

My second and third pregnancies have been not quite as severe and with my second, the sickness got much better in the second trimester. I am at 13 weeks with #3 and things are hit and miss at this point. I am hopeful that things will start turning up here soon, though.

I had constant morning sickness and overall exhaustion throughout the first trimester for all four of my pregnancies but the second trimester was always tremendously better. I started feeling better around 14 to 16 weeks.

Obviously it varies from person to person but hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones that feel much much better during the second trimester.

FWIW the third trimester is usually a little less fun for me because I start getting heartburn and it becomes harder to sleep or move around - BUT those are such small things compared to the awfulness of the first Tri.

I had terrible nausea and food aversions in the 1st trimester. I was thankful that this was a wanted pregnancy, since if it was an accident I would have regretted it sometimes!! Now in the 2nd trimester I don't even feel pregnant until the baby kicks. I have no nausea and I don't even have an increased appetite. It's weird. I just feel so normal.

I'm on my third pregnancy and had pretty bad MS with every one of my kids. With my first I felt better after 15 weeks. With my second I felt better after 12 weeks. Right now I'm 9 wks with my third, so we'll see. I did end up taking Diclectin throughout both of my previous pregnancies as whenever I tried to stop taking it, even near the end of the pregnancy I stopped feeling hungry. But as long as I took Diclectin (a lower dose - I think two per day) I felt great.

You should at least start feeling some improvement soon, hang in there!!

I had nausea and vomiting from the get go, before I even knew I was pregnant. I tried every trick in the book and nothing helped until about 17 weeks. It went away for a couple weeks then came back, but after about 3 more weeks, the nausea was gone! 2nd trimester was great. My libido was strong, had a lot more energy and was able to eat and keep it down. 3rd trimester had a whole other set of problems, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the MS. I just had backaches and heartburn, but it was nothing compared to the beginning. Looking back, it really did go by fast, even when I think back to the first trimester being hell. Pregnant with #2 now and it's completely different. I hardly felt pregnant until about a week ago. I'm 7 1/2 weeks.

My morning sickness didn't end until DD was born. I ended up vomiting coffee grounds at one point. I ended the pregnancy 35 pounds lighter than I started.
Worst case scenario is that it will be over in 6 months.

I've had nasty MS with all 3 pregnancies but over it by about 17 weeks with all of them (#2 was a little weird because I had to have an emergency appendectomy). Second trimester was okay, but I'm not sure that I would say that I felt like my old self. Throwing up was done, though (until labor). I always tell my husband that pregnancy is a whole body experience, not just about a belly getting bigger.
