Would you rent a house RIGHT BY a Cell Phone Tower and Soybean crops?

I think this is probably the place place to put this... Our environment is a big part of our health, right?

So here is the deal... We just found an awesome, affordable house to rent. It fits all of our needs. It has spring water(no nasty city chlorine). It has a big fenced yard that is safe for my kids and pets. The view is PHENOMENAL. the land lady is super sweet. BUT... It is a few hundred feet from a great big communications tower, and just across the driveway there is a gigantic field of soybeans(not organic by any stretch, I'm sure).

I really want to rent it, but I worry about pesticide exposure and all the other chemicals that go with commercial GMO crops. I worry about crazy radiation from living under a tower. But I also worry about the implications of living where I am trapped buying water of questionable quality to escape drinking chlorine. And I know that antennas are EVERYWHERE... Can I really escape them and am I worrying about the comm. tower for nothing?

What would you do? Any thoughts and insight appreciated!

is there a hedge or anything between you and the soy field? Maybe you can contact the farmer.
How long would you live there? I probably wouldn't buy a house right beside a tower, but I'd live there for a while if it was a really good deal and nice place. If you live somewhere with chlorinated water you could always get a water purifier or put it in a jug so the chlorine can dissipate.

No hedge or anything. The land-lady IS the farmer. It's about the end of the season for soybeans I would imagine, but I still worry about pesticide and herbicide residue in the soil and around the yard. My garden would be something like twenty or thirty feet from the edge of the soybean field. *sigh*

Well, it's a rental and we just planned on a one year lease. I guess that if I noticed any ill effects I just wouldn't renew. We are pretty healthy people, and imagine we'd be alright... Then again I wouldn't want to UNDO any of the things I've worked so hard to achieve health-wise by living there. Maybe I could talk her into growing something completely different, like something organic, next year. *haha*

As far as the tower goes? I think it's my biggest worry. EMF overload and all that. I guess I could back out of the lease at any time due to health issues caused by the proximity to the tower... I just really like the house. Everything about the place is perfect except for these two rather large sticking points for me.

Anybody know anything about mitigating bad EMFs? Crystal grids or something?

subbing...

we live near towers as well and i was nervous at first... but doing just a quick look online- it seemed that as long as you are not right under it you are mostly shielded?

we are about a block away.. maybe more.

The tower would be my main concern, although the crops are a concern too. Keep in mind that 80% of well water has rocket fuel in it, and well water in agricultural areas almost always has significant levels of pesticides. We filter our well water.

But the tower --- that's a bit freaky for me. In some parts of Europe they won't even allow wireless in public places, and no cell phone towers near schools because of the kids' developing brains.

But there are things you can get to mitigate that, too. There are plug-in devices that disrupt the EMFs for a certain amount of square feet, there are devices you can wear on your person, etc etc. Look into it some. My concern was that it was hard to know if those things were really working -- but I don't remember the research.

Good luck deciding...

You'd probably be safer if the crop was GMO. There would be less spraying. There's no way I'd live that close to a big commercial farm crop. Spray drift would petrify me.

I don't know what a crystal grid is, but a faraday cage might mitigate the EMF?

I'm having a really hard time getting comfortable with either issue. This house is literally a couple hundred feet from the tower. And if they have been growing soybeans there for years, the spring water that seems like such a benefit is probably way more contaminated than any municipal source.

As far as the crystal thing... I knew some acquaintances that buried crystals all around their property in some kind of grid, and this was supposed to put up some kind of positive energetic field. When we went to view the house the folks who are renting it now told us that they had found tons of geodes on the property, just walking around and picking them up. I wonder if the property doesn't have it's own protective field with all those natural crystals? I just don't know. It's a hard choice to make. I am certainly leaning towards telling her that I've changed my mind while I know that she has another lady looking at it so that I'm not leaving her hanging. It's just so cheap and so lovely and so fulfills all the things I was looking for... If I had known starting out that the place was spitting distance from two such horrifying things I'd never have gotten excited about it. Somebody break out a violin and play me a sad song.

Me either.

I'd worry about the tower, too.

I'd worry a bit about the ground water and the crops. Otherwise it wouldn't bother me. I wonder if the landlady has had the water tested recently.

Nope. I wouldnt.

honestly no I would pass. My first concern would be the water and possible runoff even though in theory its better than municipal water I would worry less about contamination from municipal sources and just use a filter to remove cholorine.

the towers is a double whammy in my book. Both together wouldnt have me renting.
