Water Bottle Options?

Up to this point I have been using a sippy for DD (15mos) for water when go out and about, etc.

I have been considering getting a stainless sippy or stainless camelbak for her instead. I like the camelbak, but it says not for kids under 3. Is there any reason, other than the removable spout, that a 15 mo old should not use these? (is the bite and suck removal of water not good at this age or something?)

The other is the foogo.

Any thoughts/input?

We have a klean kanteen with sippy attachment for our 18 month old. She would just have the regular sports cap but she thinks shaking it upside down to get water everywhere is cool...

We had been using the foogo, but the darn thing kept leaking!
I saw the camelback one a few weeks ago and bought it even though I didn't think that DD would be able to figure out the bite valve, and she proved me totally wrong! The instant I handed it to her, she bite down and started sipping (she is 16mo BTW). I love that thing now!!! She can throw it all over the place and it never leaks!!

Thanks!

About the camelbak. I have one (not stainless) and thought the same thing, but DD was able to figure it out. I just wasn't sure if there was anything other than the removable valve that would make it an issue for someone her age. I may give it a try.

Exactly! DD has been using this since she was about 9-10 months old. We love it. And she can't shake the water out!

We use the Thermos Foogo straw cups. We have 4 and haven't had any issues with them leaking.

We also have a couple of Klean Kanteens (just the small open-topped style), which I like too, but since they aren't insulated they sweat and don't keep water cold for very long. So if we're going to be out for a long time or I want to use ice in their drinks we use the Foogos.

this is what I have for ds. We've been through a variety of cups and I like this one best because it keeps his water cold for so long. I think I got it for about $5 at Target.

We have the Foogo and the KK, and I much prefer the KK. It doesn't leak and is easy to clean. However DD prefers the Foogo. It has handles which she likes, and the likes the chewability of the spout. I find the Foogo hard to clean, it gets a dirty residue that's hard to scrub off in the cap, and I always think it tastes strange when I sip from it (which we all do sometimes when we forget our own water, right?)

(And we do have the Foogo straw cup but it leaks like crazy and DD makes a huge mess with it. That's now our "smoothie only" cup to be used under supervision.)

i have the klean kanteens too, which are generally good. to combat this issue, i bought a neoprene holder thingie by the company Built - it has a snap loop, i forget the exact size. anyway, it keeps the bottle nice and insulated and prevents the sweating issue. my husband likes to hook the loop on to his pants when we're @ the playground, too

i also have the safe sippy straw cup. really like them. they're annoying to clean, but aren't they all? they leak a smidge, but really not too badly.

my only gripe about the klean kanteen is that if it's dropped on the spout, it can dislodge it ever so slightly which = a very wet toddler! it's also easy to not screw it on right without noticing (but that could also be my issue). overall i like it, but i usually would rather reach for the safe sippy.

We use the kk as well & really like it. I like that we can switch out the top when he gets older.

We have KK, safe sippy and foogo. We hate the foogo and SS (leaks). LOVE the KKs. The nice thing is that you can buy the caps separately so you can use the sippy spout then go to the sport cap or the regular screw on top. They are really sturdy and the lip is nice to drink from when you use it as an adult (just sipping like a glass).

We have this too! I love it. It never leaks.
ETA: I mean, the sippy attachment never leaks! The sports cap + toddler would likely = leaking...

We have several fogos and funtainers and love them. No leaking here at all (if turned upside down and shaken, a hard-working toddler CAN get water out of them... lol)

they keep it cold cold cold. It's just too hot here to have un-insulated water containers.

uggghhh-i've spent so much $$ trying out all the different cups...

I wanted to love The Safe Sippy & even bought the 2nd Generation but I found it did leak & def was more of a pain than the other to clean. The 2nd Gen was much better than the 1st but still not perfect.

The Thermos Foogo with the straw does not leak for us & has worked well.
We love our Klean Kanteens with the Advent sippy. And I also love the Crocodile Creek bottles.

For the Mamas

Just thought I would add that I bought a KK Insulated bottle for myself over the winter & LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. This thing holds temperature like nothing I have ever seen. During the winter I was preg & would make my tea at home, pour it in & then be in the car for almost an hour & it would still be hot. Not just warm, hot. A few times, I left it in the car for another hour & came out & it was still hot.

This summer, I put ice cubes in it & fill it with water & would be on the beach, in 90 degress & the ice cubes would stay ALL AFTERNOON. I could leave it in the car for hours & the cubes would still be there...

I had problems with the 1st coffee/tea lid they sent me-it was leaking from the treads. They sent me another one immediately.

I just wish they would make a 32 oz one now. It is seriously AMAZING.

I have a Built neoprene case for my stainless steel water bottle, and I don't like smelling the rubbery smell when I drink from it. I'm picky!
