My DH and I are leaving next week for a vacation in Jamaica for 6 days. I was so excited when we were making that plans months ago, but now I'm wondering what the heck was I thinking going away for so long?????
DS is 2 yrs old and a super great, smart little boy. He will be staying with my MIL and FIL who live just a couple miles up the road. DS has done 2 sleep overs in the past with them and it went well (even one time when he had HFM and we didn't know it). My MIL is very nurturing and will work with our routine as much as she can. I'm positive he will be in great hands.
I'm just worried that DS will miss us and feel abandoned? DS is such a routine kid. He knows that daddy picks him up in the afternoon from daycare and if I happen to pick him up, he wants to know where daddy is...or if DS gets up in the morning and daddy left early for work...where's daddy? He knows something is different.
I thought about making a couple little videos that my MIL can play for him if he gets upset. Maybe one of me saying Goodnight and sleep tight or just a hello kind of video or several? IDK if that will upset him more or not?
Gesh, I'm tearing up as I'm writing this just thinking about not being with him for that many days....what was I thinking....!
