Religious Exemptions

I did a search for past threads but noticed they are from 2004 and 2006. I wanted to get some more up to date info and opinions.

My DS just started Pre-K with religious exemption and I'm thinking of when he starts regular school and how hard or easy it will be with religious exemption at Catholic School. Reading about the recent case in NJ (I think) yesterday has me nervous and don't know what to do or where to find info on pleading your case for religious exemption.

Anyone have any experience, links or info that will help me prepare. We are in CT but any advice would be appreciated.

The law clearly states for CT that school refers to both public and private school. This would include a private catholic school.

thanks but not sure what your reply means. I understand that school refers to public or private but I'm trying to find out how parents have been treated when it comes to using a religious exemption in school more concerned with catholic school since that's where we want to send DS.

do most schools especially Catholic question and make you fully explain what Religious reason parents have?

I have read a gamut of experiences from no problem at all, to ignorant staff who say the exemptions are not excepted because they are not farmilar with the law.

They are not allowed to question your religion, and since you do not have to be Catholic to send your child to a catholic school, it doesn't matter what they say really. the law is the law.

Hopefully someone from CT with a first hand experience with a catholic school will chime in.

thanks. I guess the recent case I was reading said that Catholic school can refuse religious exemptions in certain states or at least make you fully explain why you feel it's against your religion. I am Catholic so I want to be sure I understand and have figured out explanation ahead of time since just being against aborted embryos doesn't always count since they are not in all vax's.

I can't believe this can turn into a nightmare b/c I want to protect my child.
