Some times my toddler drives me crazy, but then I have mornings like today where I'm reminded...

I have a typical 2 year old girl. She throws temper tantrums, she does the opposite of what I ask, she runs when I call her because she thinks its funny, she has toddler attitude down like it's no ones business... lol..., and honestly a lot of the time she drives me completely insane. Of course I'm 2 months from my due date soooo my patience does tend to run a little thin sometimes.

But then she'll do things that make me forget all the "bad" and remind me how awesome she is!

This morning we went to the store and she not only introduced herself to the cashier with "I'm Lucy. I'm two. Nice to meet you!" but also said good bye "Bye. Have fun! Kiss kiss!". Haha it was adorable and the guy got a total kick out of it.

Anyways it's not like she did some kind of amazing new thing and I'm in awe of her. This is just how she is. She's loves meeting new people and constantly will talk to strangers and other children. Of course half the time no one understands what she is saying, but she tries and you can see that she really tries hard to communicate. A few days ago she held out her hand to a little girl who was probably about 18 months old... She said "Nice to meet you" and went to shake the little girls hand. Of course the 18 month old didn't understand so I had Lucy shake the mother's hand instead.

Idk with all the complaints we share over how tough raising a toddler is. I thought maybe we could start a post about the good fun things our toddlers do.

Lucy is going through a funny stage right now... Funny as in she understand certain faces and things she does makes us laugh so she goes around trying to make us laugh with her strange and unusual antics. LOL!

I like that. Funny, my DS is 2.5 and #2 is due in November for us!!
He was great at 2, but a couple of weeks ago hit the terrible 2's BIG TIME and yes, with these hormones....I feel like I am ready to lose it half the time!

I felt all warm and fuzzy the other day when our friends were going home, with their DD, 2 and 11 week old son. DS kept saying "baby stay at home?"
He loves babies-but we'll see how long that lasts when he realizes his little sister is staying more than a couple days!

Lucy loves babies too. I mean she's a little bit obsessed with them. LOL! I'm excited to see how she will handle having a baby brother, but also nervous at the same time. I have a 3D ultrasound of his face on my fridge and when she gets up in the morning she says "Hello brother. Mama that's Jude!". She will also point to my tummy and gives it hugs now... But I still don't think she fully grasps that a baby is going to be living in our house in two months! Yikes! :-)

My son is 15 months old, and can go from precious angel to rotten stinker in less than 2 seconds..lol

This morning though, he was eating a graham cracker and walking around the living room. I was laying on the couch still waking up. He walked up to me and put his face right in mine and said, "Hi!" and gave me one of his sloppy open mouth baby kisses right on the nose. Somehow he knew that's exactly what I needed today. lol

Yes! My toddler is driving me crazy right now. DH just left for 2 weeks.

She refuses to sleep!

She is all about using her new step stool to get into everything!

She just wants to dance!

She talks nonstop!

Aw, but the things she says..."I have to be careful when I dance...This is my crazy dance...I am just going to move this chair so it won't get in the way of my dancing."

She just slid one of DH's book under the couch and said to me blankly, "I will never see that again."

Last night, DH was teasing her by wearing her sunglasses, and DD yelled at him, "give me back my sunglasses. They are mine...g-d d-mnit! <crickets> We are nipping that in the bud. But, oh, it made us laugh later. (I swear I don't say that that much. She just picks up on things fast.)

If there is one thing this toddler is good for, it is providing her parents with endless entertainment and laughs. and love. She is such a lover.

And, then every now and then it hits me how awesome she really is. Many times she has come out of the bathroom having completely taken care of herself, and I think, 'how can I be so hard on her sometimes. She is a rockstar.'

Toddlers are amazing. Thanks for starting this thread.

ETA: DD is really big into catagorizing things, and she just saw me knock on the table. I said that I was knocking on wood. She said, "That table's not made out of wood. It is glass...Just kidding!"

This totally made me laugh. A great piece of stand-up comedy, if you ask me.

Don't you HATE it when they say something SO not ok-but absolutely hilarious-and you almost explode from trying not to laugh!
Yeah, DS picks things up fast as well-luckily I have totally cut out the potty mouth, but there is the occasional slip.

Last week though my son started repeating back to me, out of nowhere-"Good lord, you're cute!!"

Lucy&Jude'sMama-funny that too, we have DS and are expecting a girl! And he's always insisted the baby was a girl from the get-go...and now he asks every day "want to hold the girl" or "want to hold the sister".

I will never forget when DD was a newborn and crying and DS was about 2.75 years old and said "Mommy! I don't know what's wrong with this F*CKING baby!" So wrong but oh, so hilarious.

The other day DS came into the room and I said "Hello there handsome man" and without skipping a beat he say's "Hello there Gorgeous Girl"

My DD will be 2 next month. I was on the computer and she was playing and she comes in with a purse full of toy grapes and says, "Bye momma, see you later." I ask her where's she's going. She says, "shopping, can I have the keys?" I help her find her toy keys and she says,"Can you open the door momma?"
Too funny. And her favorite curse word is "Oh SH*T." As in when I tried to carry too many plates of food and dropped them all and she said "Oh SH*T momma dropped suppy." You can bet me and DH had a talk about his language : )

She's a mix of really easy with some things and incredibly difficult with others-she's very strong willed, but will listen and has a sunny dispositon, but the other day she astounded me when I had to straighten out some financial aid stuff. We were at the office for over an hour and she mostly sat in a chair and read books. She came over and stood by me (and chatted a bit) for a few minutes and wandered the room a bit, but did not cry, whine, or get upset that my attention was directed elsewhere the ENTIRE time we were there. Just happy. None of the staff there could believe, and truthfully neither could I. For so many reasons I am blessed. We won't talk about her experiments in painting the house with yogurt though

I am on day 10 of DH's 2 week business trip. For some reason I am having major difficulty sleeping without DH this trip, and I am exhausted during the day. DD is back to her 45 minute naps, and it was midnight before I could get her to sleep last night.

DD is still cursing, and up to her usual shenanigans, and I am too tired to do the fun things that help me get through these weeks without DH.

I am a couple days from losing it.

But, my heart melted these evening watching DD talk on the phone to her daddy.

Hi daddy. I miss you...I didn't go to the bookstore...No, I said I *didn't* go to the bookstore 'cause it was closed...We went to the playground...No, there were no swings. It was the mall playground, and we ate rice at the mall...and uhm, meat...I love you, daddy...Here you go mommy, its your turn.

I am bumping this thread because I would really like to see some more cute amazing toddler stories. Help me get throught these next few days.

My 2 year old isn't very verbal yet, so this really cracked me up this morning. He's great with his brother, but I have to constantly remind him to be quiet when the baby is sleeping. So, we went for a ride in the car this morning, and the baby fell asleep and I left him sleeping. I went around to get the 2 y/o out of the car and he looked at me and put his finger up to his mouth and said "shhhhh.... Will (baby's name)". Nothing extraordinary, but it cracked me up that he was reminding me to be quiet because Will was sleeping.

That is cute, sweet, and amazing. Thank you. You have reminded me of the first time DD whispered in a socially appropriate time. (I don't know if it will ever happen again...)

During our summer vacation DD woke up one morning at like 6am (usually wakes around 7-7:30am) and I was trying to keep her quiet so DH could sleep a little bit more. So we are lying on the bed and naming face parts (eyes, ears, etc.). DD was just beginning to talk around this time. So I would say where is mommy's nose? And then she would point at my nose. After doing this a couple of times, she puts her hand on my cheek and says "so pretty"! OMG I almost cried! Sweet sweet girl!

Last weekend when DD was here, Pickles my kitten was meowing outside our bedroom door at like 4am, it was the cutest thing ever, every time Pickles meowed she was like shhhh and pulled the blankets over her head. After five minutes she was like shhhh, and looked at me like she was soooo annoyed and said naughty cat and put her head back under the blanket. I was half asleep and trying so hard to not laugh so she wouldn't think it was funny and wake up, but geeze it was adorable.

That is not far off from DD's "poobic hair"

DD just ran up to me and asked of all things, "can my bear hold a knife?" Assuming she meant one of her wooden play kitchen knives I replied, "ok," somewhat skeptical.

She ran off yelling back, "thank you, mommy."

She came walking back slowly with a very serious and determined look on her face as she held the wooden knife in the bears hand. And, that was it.

Huh?

<sigh> It is these kind of things that get me through these long days. Thanks for the stories. Keep 'em coming.

Awake for the second hour in the middle of the night (after being woken by a screaming out of the blue wake-up tantrum), DD happily chatting away, and I'm so exhausted that I'm (quietly) fighting back tears. She settles to the pillows beside me, starts patting my cheeks and looking me in the eyes and says over and over again 'Be oooookay Mommy, be oooookay.' (as in, 'it'll be ok'). I have no idea where that came from, but it was perfectly timed, and perfectly soothing.

I think you two have the sweetest toddlers in the world. Seriously, these stories make me melt. Thanks.

I wasn't looking and somehow DD's oatmeal ended up on the floor along with the shattered pieces of one of our nice bowls.

She was upset, and after it was all cleaned up, she looked up at me shaking her head and with pain in her eyes and said, "the bowl just slipped out of my little hands."
