Time4Learning?

Has anyone used Time4Learning? If so, how did you like it?

Dd1 is in 3rd grade this year and having a hard time with applying what she knows in math. Like, she can count backwards by 5s if I ask her to, but if she has a problem like ___, 90, ____, _____, 75, ____ she's totally lost (unless i tell her "fill it in by going backwards by 5s). She also struggles a lot with story problems, even very simple ones. She has no interest in manipulatives (so please don't suggest math u see) but she likes to use the computer, so I think this website might work well for her to reinforce what she knows and hopefully help her learn to make connections between the skills she has and how to determine when and how to use them.

We used the pre-K, K and 1st programs..the kids really liked it, it was fun for my DS who is obsessed with video games..my DD who likes music really enjoyed it, my pre-k kid wasnt to impressed with most of it since there wasnt enough of it for him so we moved him up to the K level..I don't know much about the older grades, but if your DD is more advanced in 1 area than the other I would consider moving her up a grade for that my DS who reads 2 yrs above grade level got really bored with the reading but the math challenged him.

Thanks for the tip! She is reading at about a 4.5 grade level, so the normal 3rd grade reading stuff would probably be boring for her. Can you pick different grade levels for the different subjects?

yes, you can adjust them up and down as needed

My ds (7 1/2) loves it. He loves math but hates writing and never really got into manipulatives. We were working on Miquon & Singapore but it was a slow process. He is quite computer savvy and is now burning through the material online. It works for him.

Alternately, my younger dd has no interest in it at all. She loves bookwork and writing though.

I am quite happy with T4L and think it provides a good base.

How well would T4L work for a child who is in 2nd grade with learning disabilities that needs extra practice in some areas (like, oh, math and phonics/grammer/usage)? I'm willing to try and squeak out the budget room to try it out for her, but I want some input on it first before I actually do that.

We used it an loved it up to the beginning of 2nd grade level. I would have continued but our cyber school switched to a different supplemental program.

From what I can remember you can adjust the levels for various subjects, and it doesn't move the child ahead until they show mastery.

We have used it with our DD who has an ID..what is nice about it is that they can repeat a lesson as many times as needed to master it.

When my oldest was a kindergarten homeschooler, we used T4L kindergarten LA and 1st grade math. He really liked it.
We used it for the fall semester last year with my gifted then-preschooler; he started on 1st grade LA and went through 3rd grade LA; he did K math and part of 1st grade math; and he did 1st-3rd science and social studies.
I loved how you could adjust the grade level by subject and that he could do it without parental involvement and I could check his scores later.
My little guy is in school this year and we are doing a more classical route with my now-2nd grader (who was in school last year; we are a mess ). But I recommend T4L all the time.
