Anyone else had a "placental implantation bleed"?

So on Sunday I thought I was having a miscarriage as I all of a sudden started bleeding heavily, bright red blood. My post is here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...r#post15836308

Anyway, I had a call from my midwife with the results from the ultrasound I had on Friday (2 days prior to the bleed). She said it showed an "implantation bleed" related to the placenta. She said this meant that the pregnancy should continue as normal and it wouldn't put me at any higher risk of a miscarriage but I just wanted some reassurance.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can you tell me anything more about it? Everything I find online is related to early implantation bleeding, not to placental implantation bleeding.

I think I had something similar- there was a small pool of blood in between my membranes that was picked up at the 7 week US. They said it would probably go away on its own, and it did by 20 weeks. In hindsight, I would have skipped the three USs I had to "monitor" it. I never had any bleeding.
