Hi,

I just came across some information that made me go "huh". See below. Before I got pregnant I was diagnosed with ITP - Low blood platelets, of unknown cause. Not too bad, they range from 60-80,000 so its not extremely low. It's also thought I may be a carrier of hemophelia, though they have not confirmed this. But mostly hemophelia effects boys (easy bleeding, etc) so when I didn't know if my baby was a boy or girl, I had to see a specialist to determine what we could do to make delivery safer if it was a boy. I've never had extreme bleeding, or brusing, so thats why they think I *could* be a carrier.. theres about a 50% chance, my grandmother was a carrier so her son (my uncle) has hemophelia. Also we don't know whetehr my DD has ITP - it can be inherited, but most often when a baby is born to an ITP mother the babys platelet count is normal after a few weeks.

ANYWAY.. knowing I have a family history of blood disorders and my issues are not fully "known", would this be considered a contraindication? Or is it only a contraindication if the child itself has hemophelia/low blood platelets?

Contraindications, or circumstances which mean that an individual should not receive the DTaP vaccine, include the following:
