is anyone still loosing weight?

I am 22 weeks and I am still loosing weight. I am overweight to begin with but my Dr. said it is okay to not gain...but not to loose weight. well I have lost weight about 4 lbs in the last few weeks. I am not trying to loose, I am eating a lot. What can I do? What can this mean? Can healthy babies be born from overweight but healthy women who don't gain weight?

I have been going up and down the whole time. I am overweight to begin with as well. At my most weight gain this pregnancy, it was 6 pounds at about 16 weeks. Since then I have lost back down to 1-2 pounds above where I was when I got pregnant. I talked to my Dr about it and he didn't seem concerned at all. The baby was measuring great, even bigger than dates showed (but we all know how u/s can be wonky sometimes) so he said he was not concerned in the least. I have been a little worried and just try to make sure that I am eating enough. For me, the big push is to eat small meals more often so I don't feel too full or get headaches. Those meals have been very healthy homemade stuff or fruit and veggies. I think you are doing fine and if you are eating when you are hungry and not starving yourself, I am sure all will turn out well. With my son, I only gained 12 pounds and the majority of that weight came on between weeks 22-32. He was born perfectly healthy. Don't stress too much!

My OB and a maternal fetal specialist both told me that if I did not gain any weight at all but still ate healthy I would be fine. I am overweight to start with as well (233 ppw).

I lost the first trimester and didn't gain the beginning of the second. I finally did gain 8 pounds over the last two appts.

I'm down a pound from my pre-pregnancy weight (today I'm 23 weeks along). I started out heavy at 199 pounds, so my goal is to gain little to no weight (no more than 10 pounds throughout the pregnancy). My OB isn't worried at all - the ultrasound shows the amniotic fluid levels are great, the baby is the right size/weight, and I feel fantastic. I'm not dieting, or limiting what I eat - but I'm eating super healthy and eating when I'm hungry until I'm not hungry - rather than eating everything in sight. So far so good.

i didn't lose at first but i am now. my pre-preg was somewhere around 225 (i think.. don't really remember). i gained to 245 in a real hurry i'm 239 now, 22w. i'm not particularly worried about it. with my first i fluctuated wildly due to water weight.. so i don't worry about fluctuations this time around either. i'd like to finish under 250 but no idea if that'll happen, since third trimester is when i gained tons of water weight last time.

last time my pre-preg was 195, went up to 225 while pg, went up to 250 after birth due to water weight (poorly managed birth), and 3-4 weeks later i was 175ish. yeah, that's a lot of water..

this baby is measuring big already. at the last u/s (a month ago probably) the head was measuring a full week ahead, and last appointment my fundus height was 3 weeks ahead. same as her big sister!

I just wanted to chime in with an absolutely! i am overweight (well, obese), and gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby last year. I did not gain a pound until the last few weeks where the baby was gaining a pound a week, and I swelled up like a big balloon.

After delivery swelling went down, I was a little under where I started. Eat healthy, eat normally. My ob said that she would recommend a nutritionist if I were worried.

There is a great site called plus size pregnancy. I think you will do just fine!

This time, I started the pregnancy 50 lbs lighter than my last two. I have gained a total of 7 lbs. With DD I lost the entire pregnancy, 19 lbs total, and I gained part of that back for a 9 lb total loss at delivery. DD was healthy, and 6lbs 10oz. With DS I lost and then gained back for an 11 lb total gain at delivery.... he was 6lbs 13oz. So the difference in my babies is about 3oz for a 9lb loss vs. an 11lb gain. I didn't start gaining back any of the weight until around week 24.

This time I have already gained 7-9lbs (depending on the date) at 25 weeks, but like I said, I started this pregnancy at 200 vs. 250lbs. I don't anticipate I will have a baby any bigger than my last two... probably 7lbs 0oz MAX. My first pregnancy yielded a 7lb7oz baby, but with that one I started at 140 and gained 55lbs. No thank you, it was not a healthy gain from nutritious foods.

First I would like to say I am glad I am not the only overweight/ obese person on MDC! I have an appointment in the morning with my drs partner so hopefully everything is okay!

I only gained about 4 lbs in the first trimester but now I'm 21 weeks and have gained 11! At my size, I think 10-15 lbs would be about right and all of a sudden, I'm at 11?

I think you can definitely have a healthy baby if you don't gain weight as long as you are eating well and enough! Sounds like you are!

I had an appointment today and everything is going well. I didn't loose weight but I didn't gain any either. Baby is measuring right on and moving with a strong heartbeat. I have an ultrasound next friday to check the stomache size so hopefully the baby is good then too. He just kicked me like to say mom I am fine stop worrying!

Glad your appointment went well! I hope between that and all the good feedback you're getting here, you are feeling more confident and relaxed.

You are definitely not the only overweight/obese mama on here! I am as well, and I have lost between 16-19 pounds (fluctuates, depending on the day) since getting pregnant. My OB is totally fine with this because the baby is measuring perfectly. I'm just eating better (mostly ), and it probably helps that I had to give up my weekly wine splurge.

Anyway, I lost about 12 pounds at first with my son and then gained at the end--most of it after 30 weeks. He was born perfect, at almost 7 pounds at 38 weeks.

So, no worries!

I just want to thank you all for your support! Big Daddy has been gone for a month and I have been basically a single mom with no one. I look to you all for my adult contact. so Thank you!!!! I am much more chill now. What actually made me calm down the most was the baby kicking me... He really gave me the vibe of chill out! so I can't deny my son! At that moment I felt so close to him!

That is so sweet. I love how intuitive our little babies are.

When will Big Daddy be home? Mine is leaving Saturday for three weeks, home for two, then gone for four more. I love how fast the pregnancy flew by when he was gone so much the first 20 weeks of it, but now that I have had him home for the last 6 weeks, I am really dreading this next trip. I think I am going to have my iron tested on Tuesday because I am just. so. tired. I don't know HOW I am going to cook every night for the next 3 weeks without his help on nights like tonight where I was just way too tired (and whiny).

It is just amazing to me how much I have bonded with this little baby, and I was worried not knowing the gender might hinder that bond.

Yes- my last I was -1 lb when he was born and he was very very healthy and I actually felt that much better too. He was a good 7 lb 11 oz at 39 wks! This time around I'm on a path to do the same (end up neg. at birth) and am so not worried about it- neither are is my MW. I think she may be concerned if it's more than 10 lbs, but I don't think it'll go down that far. (I'm 19 wks and so far have lost 5 lbs, w/my last I gained a few back -like 4 lbs in the last month)

I'm 23.5 weeks and still losing weight. It's slowed down some but I'm about 25 lbs less now than when I first found out I was pregnant. I was plus sized to being with.

With my 2nd daughter I gained less than 10 lbs and she was a perfectly healthy 7 lbs 6 oz.
