hah! i'm turning into a nosy old lady!

i just had to laugh, since i just commented on a thread a couple days ago about how people are always telling me i haven't dressed my baby warmly enough and how silly i think it is when i see babies in snowsuits in May.

but, i was at a cafe that a few of my mama friends frequent, which also runs baby classes and sells nursing supplies, so there are lots of newborns with their mamas coming in and out.

it has gotten quite chilly here recently... it was about 15 degrees C (about 60 F?) and raining off and on all day. our babies aren't overdressed, but they're all wearing pants and socks and t-shirts with a sweater for outside. a mama and dad come in with their newborn twins in snuglis wearing ONESIES! their bare little legs are hanging out, and their toes were practically purple.

our jaws just dropped, and we were all whispering to each other, shouldn't those babies at least have sleepers on? 6 months ago i would have been so annoyed by my nosy, gossipy self, but oh my goodness. honestly, i couldn't say anything, but to see babies that little without even a blanket on! it just broke my heart!

That's why even here in FL I have an extra light blanket in my bag and car. Cant tell you how many times we've gone from 90 degrees outside and into a shop or restaurant that is 70... and my kid in a onesie

SilverFish, where is this baby-friendly café of which you speak? I've been going to the Café des Cyclists (mostly because they have good coffee and a ramp) but the employees are so annoyingly rude. I'd love to find a new place to walk to!

(And I've had DD dressed in a onesie, jeans, sweater, socks, shoes, jacket and hat lately--poor thing is sweating but I'm chilly so I assume she must be, too... )

we "hang" at melons and clementines on sherbrooke. it's pretty awesome. there are tons of people most days of the week, but we're usually around on tuesdays.

and i can't stop thinking about those bitty babies! i hope their parents smartened up and put them in something warm and woolly when they got home!

Ah, a little far west for me. Maybe when I go to the ped's in Westmount I'll try it out. Sounds like a great place!

Thanks!
