If I'm in contact with someone with shingles, can it pass to my children as chicken pox?

This weekend I will be around someone who the doctor "thinks" has shingles. She will have been on medicine for over a week by the time I see her and the sores are very small. She says they are not the oozing sores she sees pictures of on the internet. My children, age 3 and 1, are unvaccinated. Is there a way I could take the virus home with me an infect my kids?

From what I understand, if a person who has never had cp or who doesn't have protection against it is around a person with shingles, that person can indeed develop cp from it as it is the same virus (per the dr when my former stepdad had shingles a few years ago). I'm not sure what medication is available for shingles, so I don't know if what she's on could prevent transmission or not.

you would really have to have direct contact with the blisters. i gt shingles a couple weeks after dd was born and no one got cp in the house
