Smelly gas and poo in my EBF 5 mo

What's the deal? I noticed about 2-3 weeks ago that her poo was starting to smell like vinegar. She was pooing every day or so then. Now she's pooing every 3-4 days, and it's smelling more and more like, well, poo. And she farts and it also just smells like grown up poo.

We have not introduced anything to her, and nothing new to me. I'm concerned that my diet is causing this, but I have not done anything different and she is now 5 months old. Why would this start now? Should I be concerned? She has been gaining GREAT (consistently 97% in height, weight, and head circ. since 2 weeks after birth) and she is a pretty happy kiddo. The one thing that has changed is that she is teething hardcore. Could that extra saliva cause this? Any thoughts?

I've found this myself - the vinegary odor & all, and yes - I find it coincides with extra teething drooly periods, and suspect it might also be related to digestive changes (body getting ready for solids - dd here is also a march baby so, all that same stuff right now before reaching 6 mo).

Mine is an April baby and he has nasty stinky poos, especially when he goes a couple days between pooing. He's also teething Bigtime with none through yet. Hmmmm

weird! i've just started noticing a stronger odor to my ebf 5mo baby's poo too. it's not a different smell, just stronger. and smelly gas too! does it have to do with the gut, or the drool? anyone know for sure?

No advice but my son always reeked, he was a farty, stinky baby who pooed only 1-2xs a week from about 3 months on. I actually started doing EC because he pooped so infrequently. Funny thing his breath smelled like cookies.

DD on the other hand never had smelly poo until she was about 1-ish, but that girl's breath always smelled like rotten milk, she still to this day has gross breath in the AM.

I think for both it has to do with how they digest.
