What I was told is that you can boil them and make a liquid detergent w/them this way. I am wondering if you would end up having the same problem w/residue?!? That might help ??
I would like to know how they clean regular cloths though, been having a hard time finding anything that is gentle enough for my baby Eczema and that really cleans.

Well, the washer is about 8 years old, so the residue was old build-up from regular laundry detergent. I had started using the soapnuts before I discovered it in there & when I cleaned it out I started having issues.
I thought about making a liquid, but the next thing I put in a pot to boil is going to be my jam, so I totally just don't feel up to it right now! (Lazy) Hahaha! I have been pretty happy when I use them for regular clothes. It has not irritated my kids eczema, even the baby & she gets pretty bad.
Since posting this I've used them 2 more times to wash dipes & changed the routine that I found suggested by everyone online, which was to run a full cycle of wash & rinse cold, add soapnuts, wash warm or hot/rinse cold, thats it. Well, that didn't work after I cleaned all that crap out of the washer. But running the 1st cycle cold rinse, 2nd cycle add soapnuts, hot/warm, then run 3rd cycle warm/cold works.
This kids butt is just so sensitive. They smelled fine before, but then when she peed they smelled really strong & made her really red & raw, like they needed to be stripped or something. I'm hoping the problem is solved now.
Oh & if you want to use them in cold, just throw them in a few cups of hot water to soak while you fill up the washer & dump the whole thing in. They just kind of need to be primed.
P.S. Soapnut meatloaf was a total bust. I'll try them as cereal!
