Thrift store mamas. Oil pencil removal?

Anyone have any good tips on how to remove oil pencil from items? The stores around here use oil pencil to mark the price on anything that isn't cloth and I have a hard time getting it off!

Have you tried baking soda (make a paste with either water or vinegar)?

If the item allows, you could try putting several layers of dry clean cloth and ironing it. The heat will dissolve the grease. You can then clean any leftover mark with baking soda or liquid dishsoap.

rubbing alchol will take it right off, add some to cotton ball or like and rub it off.

I generally use rubbing alcohol too, undiluted dish soap can work ok if its something you need to be more gentle with (or sometimes a dab of oil). The baking soda is a good tip there too.

worked a lot with oil pencils and always used rubbing alcolhol to remove residue. You could also try some straight up dawn if its a washable item and rinse with hot water.

tea tree oil is good at removing other kinds of oil/grease marks (and awesome at taking off stickers)... you could try that if the rubbing alcohol doesn't do it...
