Where'd it go - Reverse teething?

Ok, we know we are sleep deprived but are we hallucinating now?!
DD has clearly been going through teething discomfort and two days ago dh and I saw the white tip of her tooth poking through. It was just the tip but my (well rested) sister saw it too.

Then, the next day, it was no where to be found!!! Could it have popped through then gone back inside her gums?! I'm thinking maybe her gums swelled up around it...?

Has anyone else had this happen? Or do I seriously need to get some more sleep?!

this happened to dd...her doc at the time said that it wasn't in fact a tooth likely, that it was actually just some kind of calcification. But she was clearly teething and there was clearly white there for at least 48 hours and then poof... gone.

I've definitely heard of teeth receding before!

Happens to my DD all the time.
It comes and goes over a couple of weeks, and then finally pops out.
But she never gets just one tooth at a time. It is always 2 or 4. She got all four molars at once. And that was after a straight month of teething pain and discomfort.
She is 14 months and has 12 teeth. And another 4 coming through now.

Happened to ds2. He got both his top teeth before he was 4 months, then they disappeared again a couple weeks later for about 1 1/2 months.

This happened with DD, but it only dissapeared for a couple of days.
I thought it was swelling up around the tooth.

Thanks, mamas! I really thought we were losing our minds!
I even bragged about it to another mama and then had no proof ;0)
