Juicing for health

Do I need to start slow with green juice? I just started juicing today, and I've been putting it off forever. Now that I have figured out how the thing works, I want to do it every day. But is a great big bunch of swiss chard in my juice every day okay to start with? Or is it something I need to work up to because of detox issues, detoxing too fast, or whatever?

Thanks!

By the way, what do you put in your juice?

I would jump straight in.

I always juice, celery (60%), parsley (20%), cucumber or zucchini (15%) and a carrot or two for the remaining percent. If you want a real detox, substitute some or all of the parsley for cilantro. To slow down the detox (especially if juicing cilantro) drink the juice with a little raw cream. I wouldn't juice chard or spinach personally. I would drink up to 16 oz a day, twice a day, in 8 oz cups. It is good to drink the first cup first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything else, and wait 45 minutes before you consume any thing else after drinking the green juice.

Why wouldn't you juice chard? I thought the dark leafy greens were one of the best to juice, for the folate.

Aajonus Vonderplanitz told me this at a seminar, and I am embarrassed to say, I forgot the reason . I looked through both his books, but couldn't find the information. But he is very clear raw veggie juice should be mostly, celery and parsley.

I meant to ask if there is something specific you are wanting to detox for? Aajonus has several different raw juice combinations for detoxing in his book "The Recipe for Living Without Disease". Or are you concerned with detoxing in general? If you are trying to remove mercury and other heavy metals it is very important to consume the juice raw fat, cream, coconut cream, butter.

I forgot to mention that I also add some raw honey to the juice for taste and to preserve it. I juice enough for five days at a time.
