I have a 12 week old pup. She is super, but every morning at 7am and every evening at 7pm she goes totally manic. Wheee! She goes from calm to crazy in about five minutes and goes on a tear for about 45 minutes. Every over minute of the day she is responsive, but for these periods she goes nuts. If she is outside in the yard with us she starts shredding the nearest plant, getting into the garden beds. If we are inside she attacks the sofa, the table, our feet.

I know it is totally normal for puppies, but I am looking for some suggestions to help manage that manic energy. I've noticed that on the days where she gets tons of exercise it does not last as long. When we went to a puppy socialization class she was so wiped out afterward that she was pooped the rest of the evening! But I am finding it VERY had to get her enough appropriate exercise every day. Romping in the living room and yard doesn't seem to do it. She does not enjoy leashed walks yet, though she will do them. But because the walks stress her out her brain doesn't calm down afterward.

Today we managed by having a morning walk, and then having some serious toy and wrestling sessions during the day interspersed with frequent training. But she still needs something more, i feel.

To make matters worse we live in the pacific northwest and we are coming into our rainy season. It is going to rain pretty constantly from now until next May with a small break every few weeks. Our pup hates the rain (boy, was she born in the wrong state!) and taking her on walks in it is miserable for her.

Any advice or tips?
