update on Willow

well, Willow has completely the 10 days of antibiotics needed to keep her from getting sick with the chorio infection i had. She started on a CPAP machine (which gives pressured oxygen), and moved down to a nasal cannula, then down to room air yesterday! She also got to get off her heat lamp yesterday and be put into itty bitty preemie clothes, which are baggy. She has a little tube down her nose which is how she gets fed. My milk came in and i am pumping all the time. She has started nuzzling at the breast, though she is still to little to understand nursing. She is back up to 4lbs, after dropping down several ounces.
IT is so wonderful to have a live baby girl in my arms. i have been waiting a long time. they practically have to kick me out of the NICU to go eat, lol, because i never put her down!

It sounds like you two are doing REALLY well! Yay for milk coming in, pumping & nuzzling - and room air!!!! Way to go baby Willow!

I need a picture with something in it....like a friend of mine had her baby super early & Dad put his wedding ring on her upper arm to show how tiny she really was. I was amazed by how tiny she was yet so healthy!

I'm so happy for you, Liz.

She looks so great, Liz. A good friend of mine had her baby at 27 weeks (by c/s) and has been in the NICU since early June. Willow is so much bigger and healthier than my friend's baby was when he was born (he's now 5 lb 10 oz and will be going home in 2 weeks!).

So glad she is doing so well! What a sweetheart! It's wonderful to see pics of these early babies. I hope her remaining time in the NICU is short!

update_

i am sorry to not update sooner! we are home. Willow was released 5 weeks and 1 day after being born. Willow weighs 7 pounds and is fully on the breast, though receiving  some supplemented EBM from an SNS while nursing. The NICU stay was hellish. I am so glad to be home. 72462_1566059763238_1587739719_1310420_5526938_n.jpg

my due date is tomorrow, but i have a 9 week old! (but she acts like a newborn, and looks like one so it's just that i got 9 extra weeks of little snuggly baby time)
