for ds for Halloween. He isn't making it easy on me this year

If you look at this link, the little blue square is what he wants to be

I don't have a sewing machine. I can use a needle and thread. My only idea so far is to get big piece of cardboard to make the front and back stable (maybe the sides too) then use blue fabric to cover it with the right colored fabric (I think it's a lighter blue and a gold?) to write the words and design on the front.

Anyone have a better idea???

I would use a box that approximates the dimensions. Cut out the bottom and make a head hole & 2 arm holes. Cover the box with thick (3"?) foam. You can shave the foam and/or build it up to make it curved in the right places on the front and the sides. Thinner foam might work, but I think you'd have to build it up. Then, either cover the foam with blue fabric by stapling it or using spray adhesive or spray paint it blue (not sure that you can spray paint foam). Add a ribbon or swath of shiny light blue fabric.

Hi- I think I would use a cardboard box and glue some foil- look wrapping paper on if I could find the right color. Then maybe cut the name out in contrasting colored paper or make a stenci and use spraypaint.
Good luck with it anyway!

I know I have seen shiny aluminum foil type wrapping paper that color. I'd go with cardboard box/ sandwich board style, covered in blue foil and then gold shimmery paint for the writing. If your son would find it funny, have him wear all brown, so he's the chocolate inside the wrapper. Cute costume idea!

UPDATE----

So, here is what a Dove Chocolate looks like.

Here is ds's finished costume! There is padding around the arm holes and the head hole as well as a bunch of padding in the shoulder area to make it a little more comfy for him
