Flat Belly? Carrying Low?

My stomach is flat It sticks out on bottom and top, but is flat in the middle. I have always been round, like ball-stuffed-under-the-shirt round. I also feel like the baby is constantly below my belly button, I rarely feel movement above it.

Not sure why this is bothering me. Maybe it is because my belly button hurts, my hip hurts, and the baby is kicking me so low. Does anyone know why my stomach would be so flat?

It's probably just the position of the babe - hanging out low and doing something like pressing his back to yours. So there would be limbs high and low, with a concave baby part (the curve of his belly/body) against your front.
Is it stressing you out?

sounds posterior to me, that can cause a flat belly shape as you don't have the back rounding the belly out.

Ah, see, now Sarah explained it about 80 times better than I did.

You might be able to shift him around if you spend some time on all fours. Or you could just embrace the new shape for a bit - I find it somewhat amusing to puzzle out where/how babes are lying in there. Birthing a posterior babe is no fun, but he's far from settled in to position at this point, so I wouldn't worry about it!

I wouldn't say it is stressing me out, but my belly is tight and abs uncomfortable, not to mention the hip pain. This is number 4, and the worst my midsection has ever felt. I suppose the posterior position would explain my discomfort. I do sometimes drop to all fours when my back is really bothering me and it does help for a bit.

There is a wonderful New Zealand midwife by the name of Jean Sutton who wrote a little book called Optimal Fetal Positioning. My midwife gave it to me to read. She recommends the all 4's thing. I have promised myself that once my third trimester starts I will start hand scrubbing my kitchen floors weekly. Sounds like you might want to start now. I agree with Sara and Selkat, baby sounds posterior.

Check out Spinningbabies.com too. Good luck!!

Could be a transverse baby - I have one of those still. Hoping he gets out of my hips soon. I am doing the spinning babies suggestions and reading all the good info articles on midwifery today to get ideas. My baby is using my c-section scar like a hammock I think
