I am due anyday now and am planning a water birth at a birthing center. They have a deep tub with jaccuzzi jets which seems nice, but the other day I took a bath in my tub (same material) and could not get comfortable. My concern is that the only tubs they have available are the hard tubs not the soft birthing tubs made out of plastic. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to put in the tub to sit on or to put under my back, rear end, etc.... to make it more comfortable? They have one water proof pillow that I am assuming will be for my head to rest on, but it seems like my rear end will get really sore if I am in labor for any length of time. I went 27 hours with my first and 14 with my second and at least 7 of those hours were active labor, so I may be there awhile !!!

Use old pillows or buy cheap ones and submerge them? I know some people will put pillows in horse troughs but they cover them with a tarp and they don't actually get wet. Unless they're just super buoyant and don't absorb the water, though, they *should* work.
Also, make sure they get the water DEEP enough. That will give more buoyancy for you and can just plain be more comfy. I have been seeing so many birth videos with so little water I don't see the point.
But that's slightly off-topic, I guess.
