Endometrial Hyperplasia anyone?

I apologize for posting so many threads lately Here's my newest problem. I've been having lots of spotting throughout the month. My periods have gotten out of control (they've always been super intense but the last year or so they are just ridiculous). I have been seeing a GI specialist because they thought I might have Crohns but they think it's probably IBS...(still not 100% certain though). I've also had lots of lower back pain and a lot of pressure in my pelvic cavity (again, sorry tmi).

(in the past, a dr. dx'd me with the possibility of adynomyosis (sp?) so my GP wanted to get an U/S to see if they could see anything)

I had an U/S this week and they said they didn't see any adynomyosis, fibroids or polyps BUT....they did notice a thickening of my endometrial lining. They said they couldn't dx it as endometrial hyperplasia until they biopsy it so they're sending me to a specialist (obgyn). My endometrial strip is measuring at 24mm (2.4 cm).

Any advice, btdt's, etc? I'm concerned that because of my symptoms, I may be looking at the big "C" but I know it's likely that it's just due to low progesterone (which I was dx'd with a few years ago). Anyway...thanks for letting me vent/think out loud

All hyperplasia will mean is that they will do endometrial biopsies on a regular basis so they are sure to catch the big C if it pops up.

It's a risk factor, not a certainty for the big C.

If you have low progesterone then you have estrogen dominance by default and that can cause all sorts of weird bleeding.

I would not worry about it unless the biopsy comes back with new info. Just be sure to monitor it.

I had it. My RE told me they typically treat it with 3 months clomid, then 3 months off clomid, then a second biopsy to see if it's gone.

My doctor absolutely wanted to get rid of it, he never mentioned just monitoring it. He seemed to think that it could progress very quickly.

Anyway, the clomid didn't work for me. He said he'd never seen anything like my crazy body. We ended up having to do Lupron Depot for 3 months, that took care of it. But, I have to be on BCP's until menopause to prevent it's return.

Btw, it's not C, it is a pre-C condition, so not something to get too worried about.

Thank you, ladies. I have a friend who is my age and two years ago she had something nearly identical to me. She was having all sorts of symptoms, bleeding in between periods, lots of cramping, lower back pain, etc. They finally did an u/s and found her endometrial lining to be thick. They did the biopsy which came back with hyperplasia with atypia cells (cancer, not pre cancer). They were able to treat it with a complete hysterectomy since it was caught early.
This is what I'm nervous about. I know it's probably nothing and I know I'm worrying over something that I have no control over....but it's still worrisome.

Anyway, thank you all again

my Mom is going in for a biopsy for this soon. It's more of a concern if you are post menopause (which my mom is), but in my reading I have found that even if it is cancer, if the lining is in the range of 2 cm then it is 96% treatable with hysterectomy alone. Not fun, of course, but i found it kind of reassuring as my Mom's lining is around 2 cm too. Good luck to you.
