Easy project for a wool sweater that I shrunk?

I shrunk a 100% wool sweater of my husbands that was only worn for one winter. It was actually a favorite sweater of his . I got it for him for Christmas last year. I washed it in cold and now the XL Tall sweater is about my size.

So I was wondering if anyone had a good idea of something I could do with it? I've never felted anything (on purpose).

Well, since it was his favorite sweater, I start with ideas for him. I you sewed it into a laptop case, could he use one? How about sewing in into a toiletries case for him? Things of that nature.

You can make it for your child, depending on how big they are. Wash it a few more times and shrink it even more, cut it up the center front, add buttons or snaps (at this point you can add button holes if you want, it won't unravel), you might need to cut down the sleeves a tad. You can be done there, or you can try your hand at needle felting! I bought a wool vest from Goodwill, felted it down, and needle felted on dinosaurs for my five year old son. It was my first try, was very simple (I just printed up patterns of dinosaurs and copied them), and it came out pretty darn cute! Here are some pics:

This one on Etsy is fantastic and would require you to do some needle felting and add a mattress stitch edging:

here's another one:

If you go to Etsy and type in felted wool, you'll get a TON of amazing ideas!!!

I second a vest, unless you littles still wear dipes, then forsure some felt longies!

I feel like if I made something for my son the sweater would be too bulky (thick).

Maybe mittens?

I don't think he would use a laptop case.

Thanks for the suggestions, I love the felted sweaters with designs. I'll play with the sweater, I already ruined it so it can't hurt.

Let us know what you end up doing. I'm in a similar situation.

We make all our accidental felt into slippers! (not that we have much oops-felt... until DC did a contemporary family living unti study and began doing more laundry...) c:

How about an gnome hat? There is a tutorial in this season's Living Crafts. It's just a triangular shape and one seam. You could add something with needle felting to liven it up a bit.
