food-safe, home made clay?

This may be a ridiculous question.
I thought it would be fun to make a small dish to hold honey, for Sukkot.
I thought a home-made dough mixed with food coloring might work, but it would need to be food-safe and fairly moisture-proof.
Does such a thing exist?

I don;t think salt and flour based dough would be able to be waterproofed enough that you could keep honey in it. Even with a couple of coats of varnish I've had things get damp and mouldy. Especially in a damp/steemy kitchen.

You could perhaps use it to make a pot to hold a small jar of honey. That way if the pot does get wet or something you could replace it.

Another option would be to use glass paints to decorate a jar. I know the ones I've looked at you can put the jar in a low oven for a while after baking and then the paint is dishwasher safe.
