I guess the title says it all.

I do them two ways--
1. I core them, but otherwise leave them intact. Then I stuff the core with butter, cinnamon, and a bit of brown sugar. Put them in the oven on 375 in a baking pan, upright, until they're soft but not mush.

2. Slice and core them. (I don't peel, but you can). Mix with brown sugar and cinnamon, then put pats of butter on top. 375 in a casserole dish until soft but not mush, but I stir every five minutes until the butter is thoroughly mixed in.

We love them topped with fresh whipped Jersey cream. YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure how to go about getting just the core out (I don't have a corer) but that was sounds delectable!

just wanted to add I put raisins inside mine/ mixed up with mine. they get re hydrated and are great!!!

to core I just use a thin knife. you have to be careful to not cut all the way through or the butter will fall out. If you do just change to cutting them all up and baking in a small dish. if you can do flour, 1-2 TB makes it kinda like apple pie with out shell. I top sometimes with crushed cereal or granola. butter still goes on top.

Have you ever seen pottery apple bakers?

If you don't have a corer you and quarter them and then wrap them in foil with some butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

You can also quarter them, toss them in a bowl with the toppings, and microwave them for about two minutes. Works really well with Macs.

If you are outside and adventurous, quarter them, wrap them in foil, and toss them in the coals of a fire for a while.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Is there a certain type of apple that works best for baking?

I core mine with a melon baller. Put it in a bowl, fill hole with sugar and raisins. Cover. 2-3 minutes in the microwave.
