Help with blood test results?

I just received the results of a blood test. My doctor marked them as normal and not needing follow up, but I have 2 questions... can someone help me?

My total cholesterol is 229, so above normal range of 125-200mg.
Triglycerides 66
VLDL cholesterol 13
LDL cholesterol 127

Cholesterol HDL 89
Cholesterol/HDL ratio 2.6
Cardiac risk factor: low risk
LDL/HDL ratio 1.43 below average risk (av. risk 2.34-4.13)

Which number is the most important here? Should I be worried? I'm 39 and there is a lot of high cholesterol and cardiac problems in my family.

Second question: the levels of creatinine serum were low: 0.56 ( average is 0.58-1.06). What does this mean?

I'll be very thankful for any help. I have been very worried about the results.

Your labs are fine. The HDL is the "good" cholesterol- so the higher, the better. Your LDL is your bad cholesterol. Based on the info in your post, you have 1 cardiac risk factor (your family history), but we get to take away that risk factor because of your excellent HDL. So, essentially this means you have no cardiac risk factors. Your goal LDL is to keep it below 160.

Your creatinine is likely fine. In general, a low creatinine is indicative of excellent kidney function. It is also low in people without a lot of muscle mass.

Hope this sets your mind at ease.

Wildkingdom thank you! That's what I was wondering: if the LDL numbers would be more important or if the ratio of the two was more important. Thank you very much for answering. The searches that I did had a lot of conflicting info.
