Hi All,

I'm trying to research probiotics for my 6 1/2 month old DS. I have posted more extensively about his situation here should anyone want to check it out.

DS has never had probiotics, I tried milk kefir but it didn't work out. Neither does sauerkraut. Even tiny amounts I take makes him feel bad - he is EBF.

We can't do dairy, soy, gluten and grains, corn or eggs for sure and we are still trying to figure out fish, coconut, liver, amongst others. Just waiting for him to get over his current virus which came on at the tail end of his failed dairy test last week I won't be trialling foods until he is way over this bug, poor thing.

So, I found these two:

BIOCARE Bifidobacterium infantis (Birth-6 months)
BIOCARE Banana Acidophilus Plus (6 months+)

Although he is over 6 months old, I don't like the idea of the banana base because I very much suspect banana is a problem for him. I will retrial banana sometime, once I'm done trialling the more nutritionally important foods, such as fish, eggs, etc.

They both say 'dairy free' but I may have read some posts here advising against fructooligosaccharides? I am not sure about that either.

The rest of the dairy free probiotics on this site are not dairy free and the only other options are for children older than 1 year.

We are in the UK so it may be that we have less to choose from compared to the States.

I gave DS a little chicken bone broth this morning to try and help with his bug. He must have taken a teaspoon, but I will keep offering later today.

On a side note, I'm having terrible heart palpitations and a twitch in my eyelid has started. Magnesium used to do the trick when I got this in the past but right now it hasn't changed much. I'm having terrible nightmares too!

Thanks so much for reading xxxx
