Breastfeeding after palate repair??

My son Asher was born with a cleft palate this july...both hard and soft, with peirre robin sequence. I nursed my first son till he was 2 yrs old and feel so horrible that i cant nurse. I pump like crazy...been alost 10 weeks of exclusive pumping. I recently read that it is possible to breastfeed after surgery, but curious if anyone has tried.

So I take it there is no one that has heard of this or done this...bummer Guess I'll just have to be the first. I will post back after the surgery and let people know what the outcome is.

I have been exclusively pumping for my son for almost 5 months. He has a unilateral complete cleft lip and palate - both hard and soft. We also regularly practice nursing so that he will know what to do when I put him to breast. My long term goal is to switch to nursing after his palate is closed. Hi I know this is so old but if you're still out there... My 10 m.o. Is having surgery in a month to repair cleft soft palate and I want to bf so badly... Been pumping every day & she's so healthy. Never had a drop of formula. But I'm not willing to pump 3x/day for the next 1-3 years just to give her milk. Anyone out there have some stories? Advice? Can it be done? I just found this... But otherwise haven't read too much about this succeeding. Thanks!
