A poop question...

Am I supposed to still be finding whole pieces of undigested food in my 10-month-old's diaper? I know foods with hard surfaces (peas, corn, seeds...) don't usually get broken down 100%, but I'm noticing bits of rice, soft veggies, and even whole chunks of pears yesterday. Or maybe I'm just getting too intimate with my child's output?

My 2 year old still has bits of undigested food sometimes. I think it's probably okay...

It's perfectly normal and very common. Actually, you and I probably sometimes have it happen-- but because we don't look carefully at our own stools, we don't always notice. Anyway, it does get a LOT less as they get older. Their ability to chew effectively improves, and so does their digestion.

No worries. All of my kids did this. And be aware that banana, once it's gone all the way through the digestive system, can look a LOT like worms. But it's not worms-- it's just the banana.

Oh, lordy, that scared the bejeezus out of me the first time I saw it. Took me a sec of staring to realize it wasn't moving...

Thanks for the thread! DD is eating more and more and I've been wondering about that, too.

Ha ha! I actually took DS1 to the doctor's because I was convinced he had worms! DS2 doesn't like bananas, so no wormy poop this time around. Thanks mamas!

Yeah, it happens, don't worry. Better chewing and more teeth will help reduce the amount of undigested food.
