I'm new to the idea of delaying vaxing. I know that thimerasol is a major concern of many people for their infants. I read recently that thimerasol is no longer used in the required infant vaccines. What are other health-related concerns? Thanks for helping me educate myself.

The ones I see most often listed include:

* other (non-thimerosal) ingredients believed by some to cause harm, such as aluminum, especially when many vaccinations are given within a short timespan
* worries related to vaccine-triggered fevers or other reactions, which may exacerbate other health issues (see the Hannah Poling story)
* worries about getting the illness the vaccine is designed to prevent (including from shedding vaccines given to others)
* the worry or belief that vaccinations may weaken the immune system

Thimerosol is still in small amounts in a few pediatric vaccines (including flu vaxes)

here is a handy table where you can see just what is in each vaccine (besides thimerosol). My suggestion would be to look up and research any ingredient you are not familiar with.

Another concern: creating superbugs. For example, the use of the acellular pertussis vaccine is supposedly causing resistant strains to appear in first-world countries.
