crooked smile

DD's jaw does not line up from top to bottom when she smiles. It's pretty crooked. Here's a pic: http://bit.ly/aAbLh6

Should I be worried?

First of all - the cutest thing ever! Thanks for sharing her sweet image.

Second of all - I don't think you should worry, but I do think you should have her seen by a pediatric maxillofacial specialist. It is pretty clear what you're talking about in the photo, so if it's that easy to see, there might actually be something there to fix.

The reason not to worry is that it might be as easy to fix as exercises given by an OT specializing in oral issues.

Two possible reasons to address it are the following potential consequences (mostly much later) if it were to be untreated:

dental problems arising from poor alignment of her "bite"
headaches from muscle fatigue as the jaw muscles work harder to talk and eat

That's all assuming it's been like this all along.

Can you manage to keep your worry levels low, and still be proactive?

I think pp has good suggestions. My ds also has a cross bite and I don't think it looks too much different than your dd. I haven't really thought about it so far other than to notice it is there. His speech therapist also noticed it but told me that teeth, mouth, etc can often change at this age.
