My milk is spicy? weaning question.

DD is 22 months. We have been working on night weaning recently with some success, although we haven't been able to drop the 5AM feed. I have noticed she has cut back on nursing in the day to mostly first thing in the morning, nap and bedtime, but she does really like to nurse and often asks between these times.
Anyways, tonight I decided to try doing our bedtime nurse earlier in the bedtime routine, on the couch before her bath with daddy. She put her mouth on the nipple, then said "no, spicy, other side." Then she said the same thing about the other side too. She sometimes says food is spicy or sour to be funny or when she doesn't like the taste, but has never said that about my milk.
After bath I asked her if she wanted to nurse and she said "just stories", and then after stories she said "nursing," and when I replied "you want to nurse?" she said "spicy" and lay back down. She asked and then said spicy two more times, and then went to sleep.
This is the first time she has ever gone to sleep without nursing sometime shortly beforehand. She often falls asleep without nursing, but we always read stories, nurse, and then she climbs into her bed and goes to sleep (usually with more snuggles, kisses, and lots of rolling around...).

I guess I am wondering if anyone else has had any experience with something like this before? Does your breast milk change flavors for any reason other than pregnancy (DH had a vas when DD was 3months, so I am quite certain I am not pregnant). I haven't eaten any spicy food, and she has never said that when I have eaten spicy foods in the past. I don't really think she actually tasted the milk, although she has been nursing for a lot shorter periods of time recently, or only nursing one side, and favoring one side, all of which are unusual things for her to do. I really wasn't expecting her to want to stop at all so soon, she loves to nurse, and throws a major tantrum when I cut our nursing sessions short before she is ready to be done.

I guess we will just have to see what happens tonight, and tomorrow morning. I imagine she will be all for nursing at 3AM. Also, if she doesn't, should I try to manually express my milk or something? I am already really engorged since she hasn't nursed since 3ish, or maybe earlier. Thanks for any feedback or advice people might have. It just hit me that she might be the one to decide not to nurse and maybe sooner than I was expecting. That makes me quite sad, since I was planning to nurse through the spring at least, although I would love to wean on her terms even if it is sooner then I expect.

So, she ended up making up for it by nursing at midnight, 3, 5 and 6 AM. Then before she nursed at nap time she said, "not spicy". So, i guess it was nothing.

Lotion? Soap? That's what it was when my son once refused "no soapy milk!"

I was going to say that my DS says anything that is strong in flavor is spicy. So mints are spicy and that sort of thing.
Sometimes when your milk supply decreases (in case of weaning lets say) your milk can become a little saltier tasting. So that's possible, although I really don't think that most kids even notice or take offense to it. Sounds like that probably wasn't it but just wanted to let you know!

I have to add that at least your LO says it's spicy. When DD1 was 24-ish months she didn't want to nurse for a few hours because it was "POISON." And she told my MIL this. I was mortified (and laughing my rear end off.....)
Good luck with the nursing. It may be a soap, something you ate, more condensed milk (as pps all noted) or it could be just a plain ole moment of "toddler taking control"-ness.
