Need Help with Nighttime Diaper Leaks!!!

Hi all! Hoping you can help... DS is 22 months old and has up until a couple of weeks ago, been fine overnight in his BG 3.0 with 1 or 2 inserts until about 2 weeks ago. Now, all of a sudden, we are having MAJOR leakage issues to the point where I am getting up like 2-4 times a night to change his diaper (and sometimes pants and shirt too!)... We really need a quick and effective fix!

I feel really overwhelmed about what to do about this. I don't have a ton of extra money right now to spend "experimenting" on different cloth solutions... Does anyone have a solution that worked magic for a heavy wetter? I am clueless about wool, but willing to learn, if that's the best route. However, I know wool is a bit pricier, so any (cheaper) alternatives are welcome! Please help!

Is the diaper completely soaked each time? If yes, then you need more absorbency, plain and simple. If the BGs arent too snug, you can try adding a third or even fourth insert and see if that works. If it is too snug, the only thing that works for us is also one of the cheaper options... Happy hempy stuffed w 2 pfs and a hemp doubler under babyology wool. There have been a few nights lately that are making me think we're going to need to make that 2 hemp doublers soon. I have 4 HHs (med w the stay dry inner), 10 infant pfs (larger would be too long), and about half a dozen hemp doublers, and i wash every 3rd day (i have a spare, just in case). Babyology is also one of the cheapest wools out there, and its nearly bulletproof.

If the dipe isnt soaked, then id suspect repelling and youd need to strip your dipes.

If the inserts are saturated, then yes, add more absorbancy. You might put some hemp in there under the microfiber inserts, as microfiber absorbs quickly, and hemp absorbs a lot of liquid.

If the inserts are not saturated, you may have some buildup that is keeping the inserts from absorbing fast enough.

Are the leaks always coming out the back? Any other areas?

I agree with PP that you probably need more absorbency, or else you have repelling issues.
If you can sew, then wool is not an expensive option - just buy a soft men's xl wool sweater at the thrift store, wash and dry it on hot (to felt) then make a pattern using this website or this one. Just make it a little bigger than would fit your son, so that it can accommodate the extra bulk of a night-time diaper.
