My LOs are still quite small, so this is more curiousity than anything. How has reading worked out for your kids in a multilingual environment? I have a cousin who unschools except for some phonics work and a bit of math and I got to thinking about how difficult phonics could be because letter make a lot more sounds in our lives. I've always just sort of imagined that the kids would spontaneously pick it up. We read aloud in our 3 languages daily, watch films with subtitles, etc.
