Pro VBAC docs/midwives in Kalamazoo MI?

Hey ladies. My DH and I are thinking (and going to try to) relocate to Kalamazoo MI, where my in laws live. We used to live there too.

I'm always planning for my next pregnancy because I want a vb2c. Can you give me any advice as to what hospital is the best to go to? Doctors? Midwives?

I know both Bronson and Borgess hospitals are VBAC friendly...now for the provider?

You're right, both Borgess and Bronson do VBACs. In the past, we hadn't been able to find anyone to do VBA2C very reliably, but we are hoping that will change with the new ACOG guidelines.

Right now, Borgess doesn't have telemetry (wireless monitoring). So if you have continuous monitoring, you would need to stay near the bed. Some VBAC moms have negotiated intermittent monitoring there, although with VBA2C that might be harder. The midwives (try Trinie or Christina), or Dr. James or Dr. Winter at Borgess might be helpful to you. I've seen some really lovely births at Borgess!

At Bronson, they do have telemetry, harder to negotiate intermittent monitoring. They do water births, but not an option for VBACs, so far as I've seen. You could touch base with the midwives at Partners in Women's Health, they do quite a lot of VBACs.

There's a cesarean and VBAC support group here, too... Check that out when you're in town! They meet quarterly, although they might meet more often next year.
