Favorite tote bag tutorial

Is the Sew Mama Sew one the one most of you use?

I'm going to be making several totes for Christmas gifts and want a nice easy tutorial that a beginner can follow and adjust (I want mine to be smaller than the one in the tutorial).

I actually usually just design my own bag and make a pattern off the size/bag I want. I find most of the tutorials online just don't have what Im looking for or I have to combine mulitple ones to find the bag Im looking for.

I'm not smart enough to do that.

I just started sewing like a month ago and only have a couple of projects under my belt, so step-by-step instructions are the way to go for me. I bought a pattern the other day that says "easy" on the front, so hopefully that'll work out okay.

No insulting yourself.. Its not hard honestly. One of my first projects was a drawstring backpack I ended up designing myself because I didn't like the tutorials I found.. I have to admit it took me like 3 hours instead of the 20-30 minutes following the tutorial but I got a bag I prefered and my daugher loved it.... to death, she carried it around with her every day for a year and ended up catching it on a door coming out of the library and cutting it. Im glad it was the bag and not her, that edge was sharp!

I really like the tote bag pattern that is on Skip to My Lou. I haven't done the SMS one though, so I can't compare.

I just used this pattern last night and made my first tote bag. I'm a novice myself, and it was really pretty easy. I'm planning to make a smaller one for my daughter and figured I could just reduce all of the measurements by an equal percentage and make it the same way.
