Anyone get this? My son's PT recommended that we look into it. We are limited to only 20 visits for PT and OT combined per year and 20 ST visits per year. He has seen the ST and OT together last year and this year and started PT this year. Our insurance is about to be out for visits but he's still in need of the therapy. We'll start over again in Jan. with new visits, but it seems like we kind of start all over with treatment as well...you know...having the break of the structure and routine with the OT especially seems to make him backtrack some.
We're going to a new pediatrician this Friday to see if she thinks he needs a different or additional diagnosis. He's dx SPD, but I suspect an ASD (probably PDD) My SIL is an OT and she said he'd probably be diagnoses PDD-NOS based on her experience...she does ABA and works with autistic children daily)
I'm hoping with a different diagnosis, our insurance will pick up and cover more services, but I'm wanting more info on the Katie Beckett waiver as well as a back up.
Is there a way to apply directly for it or do you HAVE to apply for Medicaid based on income and be denied and then re-apply based on medical necessity. Seems silly to waste that time and effort and paperwork if you know you'll be denied based on income.
anyone have suggestions or support?
