Hi, mamas, so happy to be here!

I'm looking for connections with special ed (specifically SPD) and Florida families, hoping to find SPD resources and support around Longwood/ Winter Park FL. My nephew is kindergarten. My sister just moved out there 3 weeks ago, and she's scrambling to settle in, start a new job, etc. I've offered to research because I have more time to chat about schools, staff, fun programs, advocacy.

Let's have a conversation! I'm coming to visit in a couple weeks, bringing 11 month DS, can't wait!

Thank you all so much in advance,

CB

Hi! I live to the west of Orlando. For AP family connections, she should look into the email groups Orlando Peaceful Parents and Connected Mothering (both on Yahoo groups).

Hi, jenfl, thanks so much for the resources!!
Yeah, we're both very much into the AP, and it's been helpful (and scary!) for me to see her navigating the schools advocating for my special needs DN. They're in Seminole County, which gets really good ratings, but sometimes that means teaching to the test, and he's just not that kind of kid!
How's the Montessori scene in your area? Sometimes I think I'd love to homeschool, sometimes I really miss teaching.

This group might be able to help.  It's new so I'm not sure of the focus, but worth looking at.

Any luck?  We are moving down in the next 4-6 weeks and have an SPD daughter :)
