Pre-emptive New Year's Resolutions

Thread Starter
In 2011 I will not make any resolutions regarding fitness and weight management.

Instead, I am taking the last 13 1/2 weeks of 2010 to fine tune my fitness. I have made greater strides this summer than ever before and I want to sprint to the end of the year.

Shed that last 15-20.
Get really shredded.
Wake up 1/1/2011 looking great and feeling good.

I'll do the usual reliable formula.
Track my calories...1300-1500
Workout 6/7 times a week for an hour. I use Jillian Michaels' workouts...Blast Fat, Trouble Zones and Shred when I'm pressed for time. 3 mile-ish run 3 times a week.
Dump the beer, wine and vodka but enjoy a glass of really good champagne on New Year's Eve.

Just continue my program but amp it up a bit.
Anyone up for pre-emptive New Year's Resolutions?

Maybe for 2011 I'll set a goal for a Tri or 1/2 marathon but no more weight loss resolutions. It's getting old. y'know.

Hi I am up for it! I want to lose 10# by the end of the year. I am doing Chalean Extreme a weight training workout everyother day mon-wed-fri.
Then I do very intense cardio on tuesday called Insanity, on thursday I need a break so I might do 20 min. turbo jam. Then Saturday I do Turbo Jam cardio party for 45 minutes. Sometimes I will switch out the turbo jam for P90X cardio for a tougher workout. I just finished P90x in september.

I track my calories on myfitnesspal.com.

I would love to have an accountability buddy!

JamSamMom...
I have been doing great...all my workouts, food is good.
I've been sidelined by a sprained ankle the last 10 days but I'm sticking with my eating plan so I don't gain. I've been doing "girls" push ups and some ab work so I don't lose too much strength.
I'm gonna walk a couple miles this afternoon. I should be back in my regular routine by this weekend.
I'll let you know how the walk goes.
I'm so done with this ankle holding me up. I wasn't even doing anything cool like climbing a mountain.
I was looking for my son's soccer game in this huge field of like 20 games, stepped wrong and sprained the crap out of my right ankle. Then I kept walking on it. I also kept falling. I looked like a drunk soccer mom!

Chiromamma,

I am sorry about your ankle and I hate to say I laughed when you said you looked like a drunken soccer mom. I am under the weather today with the crud so i just did 20 minutes of Turbo Jam. I just started the Eat to Live diet and it is not easy to change my families diet. My kids are not happy, I just need to figure out how to prepare the healthy foods so they will be more appealing and still healthy. My mom used to pour velveeta all over my veggies, so I would eat them. I am going to try a hommade sweet and sour sauce to see how my kids like to dip veggies in it:

Chinese Sweet-and-Sour Sauce

•1 small can pineapple chunks or tidbits, including the juice
•1/2 c. water
•1/4 to 1/3 c. vinegar
•1 Tbl. ketchup*
•1 Tbl. cornstarch
•You may want a little more sugar or honey, or less vinegar, depending on the sweetness of your pineapple juice and your personal preference
Mix up all the sauce ingredients in a measuring cup.
Simmer until the sauce is clear and thickened.

I am glad to hear your ankle should be better soon!

The sauce sounds delicious. I'm going to try it.
I know what you mean about families. I really try to eat more on the Primal end of things. The family loves all the meat but complain about the lack of bread/bagels pasta. I make pasts for them once a week and just sub spaghetti squash for me.
I went for a bike ride yesterday instead of a walk. I walked for 20 minutes this am and again just now. It feels good. I'm going to do one of my workout vids tomorrow morning.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Chiromonna,

I am glad you are able to walk and bike. I did Chalean extreme burn 2 today and ab ripper x from P90x. I am feeling much better and the diet is going good. I am doing Eat To Live and really adding the fruit and veggies to our diet....it is about doubled. The kids are doing better today already with the added veggies.

Turbo Jam Cardio Party done! My diet was ok today, I had pancakes for breakfast, and Amy's frozen dinner for lunch and dinner. Yogurt for a snack and a halloween cupcake. I have the candy hidden until Sunday....reeses peanut butter cups are my weakness.

I did treadmill walking most of last week. I wanted to keep the terrain even to protect the ankle. I rode my bike for errands a few time
Did my first workout vid this morning...JM No More Trouble Zones. It felt great.
My diet's been a little lacks. DD1's birthday was Friday. I had a rootbeer float.
Fortunately, I'm not much of a candy person. Salty- crunchies are my weakness.
Halloween's usually not a big temptation for me unless I go to a party and have few cocktails. Then I chow on the artichoke dip, chips, all that stuff. I actually turned down a party invite so I wouldn't put myself in a tempting situation.
Eight weeks to the new year. I will be a size 8!

Hi Chiromomma,

I see mothering is finally back up and running.  I have been doing the weight lifting and cardio 4-6 times a week.  My birthday was tuesday and the kids took me to chuck E cheese and then over the weekend we made a chocolate cake.....so I gained 2 #.  I also made a whey protein shake from GNC and it made me very bloated and gassy....yuck!  I took it last on my birthday of course and felt sick but I am better today.  How do you like all of the Jillian Michaels DVD's?  I have all of the ones you mentioned and they are still in the plastic wrap....one of these days I need to try them.  I got sucked into P90X a few months ago and now I am a beachbody addict.  I hear the 30 day shred is really good.  I also have no more trouble zones and the banish fat.  I have asthma and low thyroid and was too tired all the time to work out, now I feel so much better and have no more excuses.  I found the JM DVD's in the video cabinet the other day and I bought them over the last 2 years.

Anyway, I am still here and working back to my good diet.

Michelle
