This thread was set up for those of us who have really long cycles. No matter what the reason of your long cycles you are welcome here. It is hard to find other ladies that love to have the 2WW because it took them 3 months to get there. We are here to offer support and to listen to all your ranting. Please join our group and together we can get through the TTC without Oing together. If you would like to join just post Join Please in your title and add any information you would like next to your name like your chart or how many little ones you have. I hope we become a close family here.

Ok ladies, this is our new thread, which I have taken over since ZJM needed a break.

Still hoping we might squeeze out another BFP before the end of the month.

Jeminijad - do you want to be put under the BFP category? I know you had a squinter on a FRER but I didn't want to move you if you are being cautious or still aren't sure or something. Give us an update.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to update. I was told by 2 different docs (well, my cardiologist and my CNM) that I need to get pregnant ASAP. Between my PCOS and insanely high cholesterol, everyone is in agreement that it is safest and best for me to have my babies now so that I can then focus on keeping my body healthy and, as my cardio put it, "be around to enjoy my babies".

No pressure, right? I'm CD32, no sign of O, and my temps have been all over the place. I O'ed on CD38 last cycle, so we are BDing like nuts in hopes that we time it right.

I have an appointment with an RE on October 7th. I've known all along that if we weren't pregnant by September that I'd be referred to the RE, but it just hit me yesterday that it's actually happening, that we're actually at this point.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi ladies,

I'm Brittany--27--TTC #2

I'm not sure if I qualify to join here (i don't think I've gone 3 months like was suggested in the op), though hopefully you'll let me stay I guess long is relative anyway. My cycles are generally pretty long, though I'd say irregular is a more descriptive word, with looooong being a usual characteristic as well. I've had some more "normal" length cycles of about 30-35 days, but I've also gone 2 and a half months. I'd say a 1.5-2 months is average for me, and pretty much always has been. CD 1 of last cycle was Aug. 2, and CD 1 of this cycle was Sep 20, and that's usually what I can expect. I just started charting this morning, so we'll see how that goes. DS was a happy accident, so I'm just learning the ttc ropes. In fact, ds was a result of me thinking I was about to start AF after a short (read: 1 month) cycle, when in fact, the spotting and cramping was apparently ovulation-related. Quite the surprise I guess I don't really expect to have a difficult time conceiving because ds's conception was a the-only-time-it-was-unprotected type of situation, but you never know...

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know some ladies in a similar situation. The wait for AF this time was awful, and I actually let out a "hooray!" in the bathroom on Sunday when spotting started (while I was in a public restroom, at a work-related meeting meeting. oops! hehehe). This will be my first full cycle since getting my copper IUD out, so here goes nothin!

ItsUnfertility Yikes! That IS alot of pressure. But then again, I was told to go ahead and have babies when I was, um, 18 (gulp, yes it's true) and I did not have one until I was 31. That was just due to the PCOS type issues though. So, are they addressing the cholesterol as being related to PCOS or just in addition to it?

Anyway, I'm hoping this will be *the* cycle for you!

Brittany Welcome to the group! I think most of us with long cycles tend to be irregular cycles as well. I know I do, for sure. I even had almost "normal" length cycles the past 2 months. But before that I went 78 days or something crazy. So I feel your pain! Are you taking any supplements or doing anything special to help with ttc? Have you ever been diagnosed with any issue that causes irregular cycles? If you haven't, you may want to get to a really good ob/gyn or to a RE who can help you out! Many people suggest waiting for a year, but personally, I think it's okay to do that sooner if you are having cycle drama. Just my opinion, though! We hope your stay here is short - feel free to cry on our shoulders or share anything you want to!

Thanks for the welcome! Good to know I'm in good company with my crazy irregularity I've never been diagnosed with anything that would cause irregular cycles, and my health in general is good so I've never really worried about it too much. Honestly never paid much attention because it was so unpredictable, and for most of my life couldn't have told you the first day of my lmp to save my life. I guess I never saw the point, since I couldn't use that information to estimate when AF would show up again. It came when it came.

The biggest problem I ever had was that it could be stressful when trying to avoid pregnancy, the waiting for AF... But I was always very careful in my prevention methods (and for part of that time even had an IUD) so I was never too concerned.

Of course the one time I wasn't careful, I got pregnant, but somehow was totally blindsided and didn't have the opportunity to be stressed about it Also happened to get pg 2 weeks after dh and I got married, and though we had planned on waiting a good while longer, finding out I was pg was not at all stressful. (As a side note, sweetest hubby thing: Since it was unplanned, when my bbs got really sore and I thought, could I be? I was a little freaked out just bc we werent planning it, and I felt really unprepared. So dh was like, "Just go buy a test, a bottle of champagne, and a bottle of sparkling cider. We'll celebrate either way." We drank the cider! )

So yeah, long story short I have no diagnosis, and I'm not taking anything to help with the crazy irregularity/length. At this point I'm not too worried about it, since I got pregnant so easily the first time, and I only just got my IUD out on like Aug 27. I figure I'll give it a few cycles of charting, and hopefully learn a little more about my cycle in the process.

No, actually, I hope I learn nothing at all about my cycle b/c I get a bfp before I make it to the end of this one and don't have the chance!

I was wondering, did any of you have a relationship to your cycle pre-ttc that was similar to mine? I mean, before thinking all the time about if/when you're ovulating and how long you luteal phase is and all this stuff... were you oblivious to your cycle?

For instance, my mom is a "like clockwork" type and she always knew when to expect af, was never caught off guard, and (maybe because of this?) seemed to be very in tune with her cycle. (of course, she also is the type to clock and remember the precise mileage between her house and just about every place she's ever been more than once )

As I said before, I pretty much ignored it/didn't care because keeping track (before ttc) was of no use to me. Being "late" didn't mean anything to me at all, which almost helped me not stress over it, if that makes any sense. Is that a being young and pre-babyminded thing? a crazy cycle thing? a personality thing? Just curious what your experience was.

ItsUnfertility- Sorry the docs put more pressure on you- not like you need more stress than the stress of ttc! Hope your appt with the RE goes well and they can give you some answers and help.

Brittany- Welcome! Before birth control pills- 5 or 6 years ago- I didn't pay any attention to my cycle, but it was pretty regular from what I remember. Since coming off birth control I was diagnosed with PCOS (although I just have an FSH LH imbalance, and slightly high testosterone...no insulin resistance)...but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case before the pill. Before the pill...maybe my cycles were long but I didn't notice...that was pre boyfriend/husband too, so it's not like I was worried about being pregnant

Nothing new to report on my end...my chart is looking sorta good for a possible ovulation, but I've seen that before only to have the temps drop again. Just waiting until next week, when doc says I can start provera then clomid. Of course I won't start if my chart is looking good!

Hey ladies! So i just got two seriously dark lines on my OPK. This is the first time that's ever happened to me. I'm so pumped! So I'm off to acupuncture and then we will BD tonight and hopefully my temp will rise in the morning. Please send good vibes my way, I'd love to get a BFP l have to go to the specialist in two weeks

Brittany Yes, pre-husband era I went through some times of being completely caught off guard and not paying much attention to my cycle. I hope you can get another BFP quickly! Although now, I wish I had, because I think I could have had these issues addressed years ago, when I was younger, and then I might be in a better position to have a baby now. If that makes sense. But who knows. Maybe it wouldn't have made a huge difference.

Lauren Prayers for you for O! I hope you don't have to take any meds and this is THE cycle!

ItsUnfertility Super awesome news about the OPK! I am sending good vibes and praying for you that this is going to be the night!

Hooray for positive news for our group! Actually, I think it's fantastic that with such a small group we have had 3 BFPs in Sept. It gives me hope for the rest of too who are still trying!

Hi everyone! Haven't been around much as September is craaaaaazy for us teachers!

Thanks for taking over the thread, lilmom!
Huge congrats to our BFPs!

Welcome Brittany!

ItsUnfertility and Lauren--Lots of good vibes coming at you!!

As for me, just wound down ten days of progesterone suppositories to induce AF. Blech! Hope I never have to do that again. Just started spotting tonight so I'll begin to temp tomorrow morning. Hopefully this was a successful "system reboot." The midwife says she'll know more when I have some temps.

I think we're going to take a break until January as I want to just listen to my body and hopefully find a rhythm. Looking forward to finishing the last three months of 2010 and welcoming 2011

Hey Sammypants! I hope the "reboot" is successful! Maybe your break will turn into a bfp, who knows? Keep us posted! Sorry about the icky suppositories but I hope it turns out to be worth it.
Hope the reboot and downtime help you get a sense of what's going on Sammypants. I have found that just charting my temps made me much more aware of what was going on with my body.

If this isn't the cycle for us, I'll be following suit with taking a break for a cycle or two (although I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for this cycle!) Fertility Friend puts me at 3 DPO and we BD'd two days before and the day of O. Now its just a waiting game, which I really stink at. Especially because this is the cycle with the best timing on our part. My appointment with the RE is next Wednesday, which is 11 DPO. If only that BFP showed up that morning. but who knows really.

How is everyone else?

P.S. Here's my chart if anyone is imterested: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2f5393

Hey guys! Rough start to the morning- car trouble- blech!

Anyway, sammypants- I just started on my progesterone this morning to induce AF. I'm taking the provera pill though. Lots of luck to you, especially if you decide to take break until 2011. So crazy that 2011 is just 3 months away!

When I start my clomid, I think I'm going to use robitussin to help with CM. Anyone know how much I should take each day? I need to look into that.

ItsUnfertility- that's a good looking chart so far, and good timing! Keep us posted!

Hello!

So glad I found this thread! Sending well wishes to everyone!

I hope I qualify for this thread as well. I stopped BC in Jan after about 11 years (on and off). I had a regular cycle before and during the pill, but now I've had 3 AF since stopping...lengths vary from 74 days to 89 days so far. I know its only been 9 months. I've been using OPK's (which is fun since my cycle is so long...) and had a BFN this morning. Great to hear I'm not the only one who's 2WW is more like months!

Welcome Bel718!
I hope your stay with us is short and a BFP comes quickly! Until then, you will get plenty of support from us.

Were you having trouble with your cycles before going on BCPs? Just wondering..

Thank you lilmom! I appreciate it!

I was painfully regular before the pill (8 day or more AF that were pretty heavy...sorry if TMI!). I would take that back though my cycle was about 30 days or so. I think I am going to stay away from BCP in the future. I just bought Vitex Elixir for Women by Gaia herbs to see if that would help... Any input on that? I took a PT yesterday b/c I thought I had O'd on 09/03...maybe Vitex will help it come along. (CD1 was 07/31)

Hi Bel718! I've been ttc since January as well I went off bc pills in October last year- guess it's been 1 year off them now!

I don't know much about vitex, but I hope it works for you!

Hey Lauren2010! (Love your name!)

Long cycles make this more challenging.

Thank you! I hope so - kinda nervous about it. Had a friend diagnosed with PCOS and after a year of TTC (Dr. said IVF would be her only option) she had a BFP after 2 months using it. Will tell you how it goes…

Bel - I have heard good things about vitex. never tried it myself. I will say that i did try Maca and it made my long cycles even longer.

I think the fact that you had normal length cycles before the pill is a positive. Hang in there!
