we've been using fuzzi bunz (using various stuffers- hemp, microfiber, terry) on my 20 month old almost since birth. about a year ago, we moved and now have to rely on the laundromat...we've had so much trouble since then (though, to be fair we did have stink issues when using our own machine)!
our main problems are smell (even when clean) but worse once they're wet and bacteria...my son is getting awful rashes within a day of cloth diapering (we have been switching b/w cloth and disposable since the issues have gotten REALLY bad in the past 6 weeks and so I notice the difference easily and am 100% sure it's the cd causing the rash).
I've tried stripping with clean hot water and vinegar washes (no detergent).
I've tried switching detergents.
I've tried Bac Out in the pre-wash with an extra cycle of plain water to make sure it's rinsed thoroughly.
Storage wise, I rinse heavily soiled cd's, but only do wash @ once week- so sometimes the dipes sit for about a week.
I really don't have the time, or money to do a plain water wash through the laundromat machines b/f putting the cd's in. if the problem is residue in the machines...I'm not sure if I have any options here.
If the problem is bacteria, what other methods have worked for others, I have heard dawn dish soap works???
Maybe it's buildup? What other stripping methods work for others?
I feel ready to either use bleach (blah) or switch to disposables full-time
any advice appreciated!
thanks...
