Pediatric dentist and adult doctor rec's? NW Chicago 'burbs...

We live in the Schaumburg area but will eventually be moving further east toward Niles where my husband works. We take our daughter to Dr. Minkus in Skokie, and before I bother his office asking for recommendations, I thought I'd have a try here.

We're looking for a pediatric dentist that isn't going to freak out and tell me to quit night nursing my 18 month old. I'm thinking she's due for a check up, so any recommendations would be great!

Likewise, I'm looking for a doctor for myself as I've never established a relationship with one in my adult life. I'd like one who's not heavy on the drugs, but at the same time if I'm going to the doctor it's likely because I *need* them. Someone aware of breastfeeding drug interactions (perhaps they actually *own* a copy of Hale's book?) would be great.

If you are up for a trip downtown to the Millenium Park area, I highly recommend Dr. Gordon.

We were just there today with my 25 month old DD, who has had cavities filled by someone else before. Dr. Gordon does ozonze dentistry, which is another way of treating cavities without drilling and filling. Even though this is not a ped dental office per se, I will not be taking my daughter back to the ped dentist we've seen before. Dr. Gordon and his staff have a wonderful manner about them and they are great with the kids. They are compassionate without being condescending. This might be a good fit if you are looking for a dentist for yourself as well. When I told him that my DD is still nursing, he was not at all put off or negative about it, but just wanted to make sure that she either had her teeth brushed or had a drink of water after she nurses.

If you or your child ever do have cavities, the ozone was so much easier than drill and fill. Being so little DD was still upset by the procedure, but I could not imagine having to restrain her for fillings.
