He came down with a "cold" 10 days ago, not too sick, just snotty nose and low fever. Rather than getting better he got worse, and broke out in a pink rash yesterday. Took him to the doc this morning and they said his syptoms were "very consistent with rubella" and took some blood samples to send in.
Poor guy doesn't feel good, and I'm honestly kind of po'd, as we plan to fully vax, he was just not old enough for MMR yet. About two weeks ago he went to a swim class- pool full of kids and babies. I don't think we'll be going back.
I know a lot of you are anti-vax, so please don't flame me. I just hope there weren't any un-vaxed pregnant ladies in that pool. I do plan to let them know if his tests come back positive.

Sorry. That must be frustrating. Hope your little one feels better soon. And please do let anyone at the pool know if he comes back positive. Even people who were vaxed sometimes are nonimmune to rubella, so anyone who was pregnant or got it and then was around someone who was pregnant will want to know.
and I would be really frustrated if my little one got a vaccine preventable disease. However, since the vaccine isn't 100% effective, remember he could've gotten it from someone who had the vaccine. Of course, the less people who are immune (either from the vaccine or exposure to the disease), the more likely it is to be present in the community in the first place.
