Does This Sib Set Work? (Help!)

Hi everyone-

I could use some baby naming advice. I have an almost 5-year-old son named Rowan. We're expecting another boy in early November and are having a hard time deciding on a name. I really love Miles. However, my husband thinks this set might be a problem because saying Rowan and Miles together might make people think of a person "rowing miles down a river."

Of all the reasons children could be teased by a name, is this really a big deal?? I mean, we will often say the boys' names together, but is "Rowan and Miles" as a sib set really a big problem?

Thanks for any input!

maybe if "rowing miles down a river" were some common and horrible expression, his concern would make sense, but i don't think it's a big deal at all. i think rowan & miles are really cute together.

No problems that I see! I love them together!

Unless it's some sort of mean humor kids don't seem to latch onto things. That's neither funny nor mean and also kind of a long shot since they will probably be in way different groups of friends. I wouldn't even worry about it. It might be funny in a ha ha kind of way if you named the second River or Boat but that's about it!

I really don't see any problem with Rowan and Miles. If they were twins it might be weird, because so many people name their twins things that link up that people might try to link the names up... but that's not the case here. Kids do make up weird, stupid things that don't make sense to tease about, but there is such a big age difference here that it's not like they will be hanging out on the playground with the same bullies or anything.

Thanks for the reality check, ladies! I had a hard time seeing how it could be a significant problem, but I thought I should check with some neutral parties to be sure.

Maybe I could convince my husband about Miles by using a catchy slogan...

Rowan and Miles: Together, They'll Go Places!

LOL!

I agree that they're great names (I wish I could get my husband to agree to either one!) ... I see no problem at all with using them together.

sounds good and works for me

Its not like you named your boys Jack and Daniel. I think Rowan and Miles are nice together and separately.
